I know there are the cheaper scan tools that just give code numbers for feedback. What are te better ones that analyze and clear codes?

I use a Launch CRP129x reader ~$225, but they are constantly updating with new models that have even more functionality. With many of the Launch models, for an extra $50/year, you can get "full functionality" for Toyota vehicles which allows for bi-directional diagnostics. I had to replace our Sequoias ABS pump and was able to actuate the pump, bleed and test it. It can do what many professional diagnostic tools can do. Autel makes similar products.

What exactly is the difference between "bootleg" and a regular version of Techstream? Is the bootleg version the one you can by on eBay and the regular version the one the dealer uses?

Check out the car care nut on YouTube, he has a decent recommendation. I just can't justify it when I already have Innova and scan guage at the ready. Good luck!

Yeah, the dealer (authorized) version is expensive. On one of the other forums there was a thread with a dropbox to get the software. You also need a cheap cable.

I've got the Techstream cable and a CD with the (bootleg) Techstream software on it, but I haven't tried installing it yet as it requires quite a bit of know-how to make sure it works properly. Can't decide if I want to try to get it where I can use it or go with something else like Carista.

We had a laptop that was being replaced so I installed it on that. One thing I remember is that you have to turn off auto updates.

The laptop starts really slow but Techstream works great. I can't remember much because it was a long time ago. It did take me a while because I lack much know how.

Has anyone with a Gen2.5, 5.7 Tundra successfully used an OBD Bluetooth with the Torque App to read the transmission temps? I've got one of those 2019s w/o the cooler and would like to monitor it on my android phone or tablet. I searched for other threads and couldn't find anyone discussing. Thx in advance.

What's the latest version of TechStream and respective hardware / cable? And where do you guys buy it? eBay, Alliexpress? I would apreciate the guidance

I have the TechStream version for my 2013 which I am sure won't work on my 2021

It's been ten years since I installed on an old laptop that I only use for techstream now. I honestly can't remember many of the details, but it still works on my 2013.
I sent you a link in a PM that should be of help. Part of the CoC here includes not sharing illegal/bootleg items.
