Picked up this new GMC 2500 AT4 a couple of weeks ago and have been making a few small changes to it.

For a little history, I traded my 2020 Tundra for more than I bought it for in 2021 toward an order of a 2022 F350 Lariat Tremor with the 7.3l gas engine. The Tremor had a lot of great things that I loved about it, but it had a consistent shimmy and sway in the rear end that Ford acknowledged, but could not resolve. One of the dealers even went as far as to say that the truck, in this particular configuration, just felt that way. It also had some hard, and sometimes laggy shifts, which Ford also said was just normal and nothing to worry about.

After spending several months and a lot of my own time and money going back and forth trying to resolve the issue, I decided to trade the truck in for this monster. Because I was once again receiving more than I purchased the truck for, I'm in this fully loaded Duramax for about the cost of a base model Duramax truck, all things considered.

Anyway - zero regrets. I wasn't immediately drawn to the styling of the truck like I was with the Ford, but the more I look at it the more I love it. On top of aesthetics, it drives so much more smoothly than the Tremor, and all of that torque makes it incredibly fun to drive, even when you're just old-manning it around the highway. I originally went in to look at a 3500 that was otherwise exactly the same, but hesitated on the purchase and it got sold out from under me. I was lucky that another customer ordered this truck and backed out.

    8.9.22 - Kryptonite Stage 3 2" Leveling Kit + Fox 2.0 Shocks Installed

    This will happen tomorrow morning.

    To Do List
    • Window Tint
    • Ceramic Coat (Will DIY, Considering Duraslic as I had it on the Tremor and it was great)
    • Possible Programmer/Tuner - Definite Detailed Diagnostic Info Screen

As always, I'll keep this thread updated as I make changes. I chose to post this here rather than any other forums simply because the group here is phenomenal. I love the Tundra and if I could justify two trucks I would still own one, but wanted the ability to tow heavier without feeling like I was at the brink of overdoing it. I'm still working through an extended break-in period on this truck, but next week will tow my 8k travel trailer through the Rocky Mountains for about 5 hours. I'll definitely report the experience back here as well.

Leveling kit installed - subtle but nice change. Now considering adding 1" blocks to the rear.

    Tows good. =]

This was last month, have towed the same trailer several times since. About 9klbs, up and over nearly 10k feel elevation, lots of steep ups and downs (this is Duck Creek, UT - near Brian Head). Exhaust brake is really, really nice when coming down the mountain. Fuel economy WITH the trailer was about the same as my F350 Godzilla gasser without a load.

Good looking truck. I like the GMC HD AT4 but didn't need that much of a truck. It was between the tundra and getting a GMC at4 with the 3.0 Duramax. If you see a guy in grey tundra say what up that's me. LOL. Live in Salt Lake area.

    Thanks and will do!

Honestly the market is crazy and allowed me to sell my 2020 Tundra for far more than I bought it, then did the same with my 22 F350 Tremor. All said I got this truck at a substantial discount.

I don't think there is a modern truck that looks better than a tastefully modified 2.5 gen Tundra. I'm going to wave at every gray one I see and hopefully weird a few people out. =]

Haven't done a lot with the truck lately other than some camper tows and long commutes. I like to take it when the drive is > 30 miles or so. This summer we should be all over the place though.

Curious at what frequency you change the fuel filter? Have you had any issues with the plastic fuel filter housing?

I need to rent a dump trailer in the next few weeks and move all the rocks from the last unfinished sideyard of our house...
