I'm one of those people that is OC and likes a perfect truck. Because of that, I really try to maximize my warranties (bumper-to-bumper and powertrain) even for small stuff. From experience, dealerships can be resistant about warranty work, and I've had to be persistent a few times. Sometimes you even have to open a case with Corporate. However I push harder when I know someone else has had the same issue and was able to get it fixed.

Do you think it'd helpful if there was a thread specifically for documenting warranty work? The idea would be to make it easier for people to learn about 1) potential issues, no matter how small, their truck could have, and 2) possible solutions from Toyota.

Posts might look something like this:

    Mileage when repaired
    Problem
    Did Toyota Fix Under Warranty?
Solution (or reason Toyota would not acknowledge problem/repair)
    Corporate Required?
    TSB#?

For example, my posts would include:

    26,494
Minor (no dripping) fluid seeping from rear differential.
    Yes, seal (and fluid) replaced.
    No
    No

27,022 Entune display bubbly and acting strange (freezing resetting etc).
Yes, radio headunit replaced with refurbished unit.
    Yes
    No

What do yal think? Should the scope be limited to warranty work, or should it include all repairs? Is this redundant effort? Would you contribute to it and/or reference it? Or just dumb idea?

I put a poll up to see if there is interest. Thanks yal

It sounds like a good idea, so I voted yes. But in reality, I don't think it will work. There's not going to be enough participation to keep it active.

Now, if you were talking Ford, Chevy, or fiat, you'd have so many participating it would require a full time mod just to keep organized!

I think it's a great idea on instances where there was dealer push back on not wanting to do the work. If they did it with no questions asked, then no harm, no foul. But if a member had an issue that required management or corporate involvement, then it would be good to see how someone else solved it. Routine stuff probably doesn't need to go on here, just special circumstance repairs IMO. Hope that helps.

I think a TSB thread would be more ideal. Warranty work is going to vary for the most part. (some dealers won't honor it where others would) Extended warranty plans, circumstances, etc. etc.

I recommend a thread sticky for each major TSB.

Yeah I'm thinking stickies for TSBs and other more common issues is a better idea.
