2023 Owner’s Manual Portfolio

My apologies if this has been discussed here already. I did a quick search and didn’t see where it had.

I am curious if you all received a genuine Toyota owner’s manual portfolio (i.e. cover) when you bought your new truck?

When I purchased my truck in December of 2022, after the deal was done, papers signed, etc. the salesman comes out carrying the new owner’s manual sections / inserts (all brand new and wrapped in plastic as expected). He then hands me clearly used “leather” folder / portfolio embossed with the word “Subaru”. I ask if it is joke. He says no and apologies. I tell him that is not going to work. I say, “between my wife and I, we buy a new vehicle every three to five years and we have never not received a new, appropriately branded portfolio / folder for the manuals”. He says Toyota doesn’t do that anymore. I was not happy, but wasn’t going to unwind the deal over it. It was late.

I sent him a text the day and told him that was really uncool. I shared a link to a version on Amazon (saying that if Toyota won’t supply the basics, then the dealership should) and expressed my frustration in buying a new vehicle and not getting a manual folder. Couple of days later he text and says he has a folder and asked me to stop by. I did. I suspect he bought it on Amazon.

 

Hmm, he lied. Mine came with a toyota branded leather pouch, and I suspect most other owners received one as well. It does look like the one you have pictured.

I think the fact that he thought it was okay to hand you a used subaru folder was downright hilarious! I had a good laugh.

 

Don't know if its a Dealer thing but it did not come with my truck either. I took the portfolio out of my 19 Limited when we traded for the 22 and did the same when we traded for the 23.

 

Preferred Owners Portfolio is Labelled “DK” in the past and is considered PIO which is a port installed option. Not all new Toyota come with them.

 

Lol he lied! CA truck here, mine came with the leather portfolio.

 

Mine didn’t come a portfolio. While I didn’t think or care about it at the time it is pretty annoying having all the paperwork just stacked in the glovebox. What’s the link on that Amazon portfolio?

I WANT MY PORTFOLIO DAMN IT..!!! I may just dump out the little first aid kit thing into my REAL first aid kit that I carry and stuff the manuals in there….
In the ‘80’s ‘90’s all my Toyota pickups would have a plastic folder with a flap in the glovebox with the manual in there

 

Yes I got one, I would consider that the epitome of cheapness not to provide that.

 

Mine was in the underseat storage and all the manuals were in the glove box still wrapped in plastic.

 

you have to select the DK option in the allocation reserve request screen if you want it to come with the truck. see my allocation reserve request screenshot.

I got two, dealer gave me one and I found another in the storage under the back seat.

 

I just got the Amazon one delivered today. I don’t know if it’s the same one that others had come with their truck, but it’s pretty nice fits all the paperwork and in the glovebox spot. For $16 it’s sort of a non-issue for me that I didn’t get one with the truck.

 

Would you have a picture of the one that comes with the Tundra if equipped..? It is black with red stitching and has the Velcro flap on the front ? Want to order the factory option one.

 

the portfolio is roughly the same no matter the toyota model. leather pouch but the size is different for each generation since the owners manual and etc manuals are different size. i really dont notice if it has any special stitching cause i never use it except to put the insurance card in and the registration yearly.

if it doesnt come with the vehicle you really cant order it after the fact. only way to get one that i have seen is if someone is selling one on ebay/Amazon as a used one.

ive bought 1 oem owners folio from ebay since i bought a toyota without one coming from the factory.


other option would be to ask the parts department if it can be ordered.

 

So Amazon, $16 and something cents. Received next day in Ohio. Was able to stuff the ridiculous stack of manuals that came shrink wrapped in there. Has two card holders inside, a slip pocket on the front and back and one inside. Takes up pretty much the entire space in the glovebox above the little plastic divider thing…

 

yeah you can usually find them cheap since they dont cost anything for the customer when its added to the window sticker. it will show a $0 cost on the window sticker. but the actual cost is paid by the dealer and usually around $16 if you can get a detailed cost breakout from dealerdaily. they use to be like $6 but i dont know when they jumped in price for the dealer.

 

This post is a joke right? You're just having a laugh right? This has to be the SINGLE most ridiculous thing I have ever heard anyone complain about. I don't remember mine coming with a cover and I couldn't care one bit. Unless of course you are collecting this truck with the intention of placing it in a climate controlled garage and hoping to cash in at a classic car show many decades from now.
