The rubber sole just came off my Ariat cowboy boots, but I have had them for 9 years or better. I might try some JB Weld or actually have them repaired becuse they are the boots I was married in. I guess I will go to the boot shop and look for a new pair. Again, I am getting old when it looks like the trend is the square toe and that is mostly what the shops carry.

Do you have a style or preference on your boots?

This is the type of boot that just gave out on me.

    I think it’s just 100% personal preference/style.

Got a few pair - wear on occasion down at the farm property. I like the durability and weight as opposed to heavier work boots when outside working.

Agree squared toe is the more “on trend” thing - but better boots you can get in whatever style you like.

Shouldn’t be that big of a deal to have someone repair/replace a sole. Just need to take it off and restitch. I’m just guessing here - but wouldn’t seem to be more than a $50-75 dollar repair. Not cheap - but neither are new boots and if they have sentimental value and the leather is still good. Worst case - a good boot maker can recreate what you have if you like the style. Again - not cheap - but what’s $400-500 for a pair of boots that last a decade or more compared to spending $200+ on a Asian made pair that last a year possibly.

I bought a new pair Saturday at Boob Barn (Boot Barn). The PBR was in town to I think the your women working there were hoping to attract a cowboy. I ended up with a round toe distressed leather again and there were only like 2 different styles in stock that had the round toe. I am glad I went and tried them on because I preferred a 1/2 size larger than my old boots.

I priced getting my old boots repaired and they quoted me $125. The new boots were $185

Square toe boots seem to have a wider toe box and fit my Flintstone feet better. I’ve got a pair of 16 year old Artiat Workhogs in square toe that are still kicking. And they’ve been through it. There are plenty of real boot shops that can resole a boot. They are just stitched and glued on. If they mean that much to you, get them repaired.

I could honestly hike 10 miles in them. They are that comfortable. Most comfortable boot I’ve ever owned.

I wore my Ariat boots to Barret Jackson in PHX and I walked all day in them. They have come a long way on boots with comfort liners and rubber soles.

Find a good shoe repair shop and see if they can be resoled. I have two pair of boots (Buffalo Runners, the maker is now out of business). One pair had been resoled twice (the limit) and the other has yet to need it. Both are square toe with a one piece front. I prefer a square toe, more room up front. It just depends on what feels best to you. If you want true comfort, find a boot maker that will measure your feet and make boots to match. That, my friend, is true comfort in footwear.

    Ariat Ropers,:hattip:

Mine have brought me comfort for more than a "Few Miles" driving and they are even comfortable while spending the day in a piece of

equipment: feet don't sweat like in some others...

I actually ordered my last 2 pair off line directly from Ariat....as I too could not find them in stores come replacement time..

Now for my "Church / going out Boots" I will be trying a pair of Tecovas once the Ariats lose their "look" o_O

I prefer the look of a round toe, but the square toe fits my wide foot better. There are a few places that custom buikd boots to fit down here and I'd love to get a pair, but dang... $3k and up with a year wait to get 'em. At least that's what it was a few years ago when we asked M.L. Leddy in San Angelo about them. Cool place, still make boots by hand using 100+ year old equipment. They have a glass wall, you can stand there and watch them make boots all day if you want.

As for the OP, Ariat is what I have too and they seem built sturdy enough to handle at least one resole. If yours have sentimental value, find a place to fix them up. I'd get some new ones to wear daily, and save the old ones for less frequent use / special occasions.

Bought these elephants back in the 90s. Best boot I ever owned. Had them resoled year before last and they told me that would be the last time they could do it. They are tight now so I get it. Still 25+ years on a pair of boots is pretty impressive.

    These are my daily’s. Until it’s flip-flop/boat-shoe weather. Can’t beat a pair of merrell’s.
If I know I’m heading out to break snow trail or take the dog through the field then it’s some knee high old muck boots.

I have a style and preference for sure.

I think the toe style your talking about is called shovel or wide toe, not my preference, seems to be a young guy trend.

I like the Lucchese 7 toe on my boots. IMG_6199.jpg

From left to right, elephant, pirarucu and nile crocodile belly in 7 toe.

And I really love the French toe on these Lucchese classics.

I'm with you there, mine also probably have a slight whiff of horse and a definite hint of cowsh perfume.
