Has anyone got experience converting a fully wireless remote to a standard conventional controller?
I have not had any failure (yet), but I’m generally leery of technology.
Also, I’m regretting the hidden winch bumper setup. It’s really hard to do a good job spooling the cable. Not sure how soon I will be in the market for a new bumper, but it’s coming down the road.

Ooh, good to know. I've had this hidden winch and Zeon on my wish list. I'll appreciate knowing your experimences about any drawbacks.

Bummer, I just ordered the SSO bumper. Are you using a synthetic or standard winch cable? Also, is the tight fit of your winch that’s causing you spooling issues?

I’m using wire rope cable. Always have, and am more comfortable with it. Also, I have heard that in freezing weather, synthetic can turn into a useless solid lump of ice when wet.
The spooling problem is just from not being able to see the spool. It’s particularly bad when pulling from a bit of an angle, not being able to see how much the cable is bunching up.
My main question though, is how to install the manual clutch lever and a standard “hard wire” controller plug. Is this possible? I worry that the wireless technology will fail at a critical moment.

Don’t know about the conversion, but for bumpers smittybilt is about to come out with an M1A2 that looks nice. PN 612941. Works with sensors in the bumper. I’m waiting on it.

Might have to get with a parts supplier for warn and order the non wireless internal parts.

Awesome! Just got in my SSO bumper and waiting for my powdercoater do get done. My Zeon Platinum 12s comes in Monday, so we'll see how the install goes.

I’m also a little skeptical about the wireless remote as well solo. That’s why I opted for the wired remote system. I would like to see an in cab solenoid relocation. I did order my SSO with access to the winch on either side. I also didn’t opt for the light as well. Do you think the cut out outs for winch access will even matter? What has been your experience?

My new Smittybilt X20 came with a wireless controller that can also be plugged in to become a conventional controller. I thought Warn had a similar setup? I never cared for the hidden winch bumpers at all. Problem is....everything is hidden and makes it real hard to winch things at times. I use wire rope too.

Some people might rotate the winch release lever walking past your rig while parked in a parking lot. You might not know until you drive over your hook at 60 mph or see it flopping behind you in your rear view mirror. I’ve never had this happen but I liked the idea of the winch being inaccessible, also nearly impossible to steal.

The only way someone could steal my winch is if they took off my bumper. While the perp/s are dealing with that problem...and my alarm.... I'm locked and loaded.

I went with the X20 as well, the hard line for remote acts as a charging cord as well. Pretty sweet setup, remote batteries recharge when plugged in to hard wire. I went with the synthetic as we dont get into freezing temps here very often in TX. I like the hidden for various reasons, lack of mess with, harder to steal, & extra bumper support. In response to not being able to spool back up well, whenever you get done for the weekend you could always take time and get under truck to make sure its right. Winches are good to have when you need them, but you arent going to necessarily need them every time out.

Sounds like you have exactly what you need! A winch is indispensable for me.
Can’t see anything from underneath either unless I remove my skids.

My X20 is hidden too. It's not like a Jeep mounted winch where it is exposed. Yes...someone could stick their hand down through one of the two winch access points and f**k with shit I suppose. I do a "walk around" my Tundra every morning. Not that I need to. A Marine Corps thing....:infantry:

Have you called Warn to see if they have a solution?? They just might. Can't hurt.

I've always owned Warn winches over the years. The Smitty fit my budget this time around. I'm thinking Warn should be able to at least address your concerns. You may have to get a different Warn. I'm also curious as to what Warn may have to say about a possible solution.

Hi everyone, does anyone know if the Warn winch Zeon Platinum 12s (wireless) is capable of pulling the new 2022 Tundra?

    Thank you in advance

It has a pull capacity of 12k lbs, double the weight of the truck. I’ve always heard go at least 1.5X truck weight. That winch will be more than enough.

That's true in theory. But, the only way to deadlift that much weight is to use pulleys. Every time I've needed to winch a dead pull rarely got it done. You learn that quick pulling even a small stump. The truck will move before the stump. Pulleys are force multipliers.

I have a smitty 12k on a C4 hybrid bumper....absolutely no way to plug the controller in so moved it to the engine bay... Fortunately you can reach the free spool release. Just not enough room once you mount that 30 inch light bar.
