Curious as to people's experience and recommendations for Shipping a Tundra half-way across the country. I'm looking at one now and close to pulling the trigger on shipping (don't have time to fly-n-drive, as much as I would love to). Got quoted about $1000 for 1300 miles and seems like that's an industry standard. Fly and Drive would cost me about $500, seller is willing to discount price on the car to compensate for my predicament.

CarsArrive Auto Relocation - $1,240 for their service center -> service center option
EasyCarShipping - $1,189 for open transport

Also, tips for handling payment/paperwork. I was thinking of wiring the cash and mailing the paperwork or putting it all in the glove compartment of the vehicle (sketchy)

Whatever you do get it enclosed. I Saw a brand new hellcat get shipped open and it showed up sandblasted. Now it’s a brand new hellcat with an aftermarket paint job.

I purchased a Superformance Shelby Cobra replica from a dealer in FL in 2015. I had it shipped to me in NJ in an enclosed trailer for about $900. The dealer arranged for the shipping but I paid the bill. Car arrived safe and sound.

Was it through a dealer or private party?

Curious as to what companies people have used and how they handled the title/paperwork. Seems like the seller just needs to fill out the Bill of Sale (state-dependent?) and sign the title releasing it from their name.

It was through a Logistics shipping company that sent it out for bid. I also waited like 3-4 weeks, which didn't matter since it was winter and snow on the ground.

I had a Ram SRT 10 shipped from Pennsylvania to Southeast Texas for $1600. All the paperwork was handled through overnight shipping before shipment. My driver I hired to make the transport. It was an option to have the paperwork already signed by both parties and the transport driver to exchange the paperwork

This was an open 3 car trailer

He is a good guy. Has shipped many vehicles for friends on other forums and they have all been very satisfied with the service and price.

I wanted a BLACK Corolla XRS. I found one in Fla. I found a local guy that is constantly moving people from Long Island to Fla. So when he had a load going down, he took my Corolla up for $650. After a person texting totalled that car, I found another Black Corolla XRS in Topeka KS. They rolled the cost of shipping into the car. In this case it was harder to find a shipper. I finally found someone at https://www.uship.com/
I think they worked it out to around $650.

Not sure if I answered your concerns. Shoot back with more questions if there are any.

Agree - Uship will get you quotes fast - have a number in mind ($1-1.50 a loaded mile is a good ballpark number) and seek bids.

Uship will also give option of flat rate - no bid through their brokerage. It’s a flat - take it or leave it quote. They then work on finding the hauler for you within 5 days.

Keep in mind - a lot of the shoppers on Uship will be brokers. You are not contracting with the shipper directly - just a dispatch company who then farms out the bid to independent and small shippers and takes a cut of the job. Most want the shipment ready to go day they bid - or within a day or so. If your flexible - you can save money. You will see a few big names on there in shipping. Montway for example - you will see a mixed review on - overall they are ok - but yeah some of these drivers not the sharpest and it leads to negative reviews.

I just shipped my Tundra from NC to Ohio (actually going this morning) - was $500 for the 585 mile ride. Opposite way for wife’s car last year this time was $800. Pricing swings are common - but big city to big city seems to get best price.

BTW: consider HOW they transport it.

Some transport in a closed container

Some transport on a car trailer

    Some can drag it behind.

    Ask and be sure.

Ive used U-Ship for my Taco and Tundra with mixed results but it was on the actual transporters and not Uship. The guy that shipped my Taco was an absolute dickwad and when my husband tried to get the spare key from him he flaked and tried to drive my truck back onto the trailer and leave with it with literally no explanation, just tweaked out. No spare key, dealer had a photo of the packet contents with the spare, driver signed saying there was a spare, so we suspect he swiped it with plans to come back and make my truck vanish overnight (he was shifty af and a local to the area where he delivered it).
Tundra was a much better experience, the shipper was great and a day early.

Both ran around $1k for about 1k miles.

Car shipping is often a cluster eff and chances are you will get what you pay for.
Based on lots and lots of anecdotal evidence, this is not the place to try to squeeze out every dime of savings if you want the job done right.

In the past I've used Intercity, and had absolutely no complaints or regrets. They did a great job.

I am amazed by some of these prices. I would have thought it would be so much more!

Looking for shipping as well. Found a nice 2013 Limited in NH and need to ship it to TN. Any direct shippers anyone use?

A 2013 in NH huh…. There might not be a frame left under that. Have you had an independent inspection done?

Oh yeah. I’ve bought a 4runner and GX from PA but was completely surprised by this.

Shocked actually. It was a NH vehicle its whole life. Even the front bolster on the drivers seat is perfect.

I’ve gotten to the point where frame pics are the first thing I ask for when looking at any Toyota frame. Matter of fact it should be a sticky for anyone posting theirs for sale for any North and East vehicle.
