What fuel best 5.7

Ffv 2018 tundra 5.7. Is 89 non ethanol. Or 89 better? I run 89 regular seems to do good. Don't want to switch to the non ethanol due to more expensive and if no difference why do it

 

Ethanol is worse for anything that isn't a race engine tuned for it, and then it's only good for power in a high ethanol content fuel. The blended fuel or E85 will net you worse fuel mileage. You will get better fuel economy with zero ethanol. It's purely a subsidized farce that has no true benefit.

As for octane, your truck will adjust for anything 87 or better, but tuners have found the truck runs happiest on 91 or better. Nothing that you'll feel in the seat of your pants, but it does run a little better.

 

I have been driving Toyotas for 40 years. 22-RE, 2JZ-GE, 2UZ-FE, 1GR-FE, 3UR-FE. I have always used "Top Tier" gasoline at the Octane Level recommended by the Vehicle Manufacturer. I have never had a fuel system related issue with any of my vehicles. I have predominately used Exxon/Mobil formulated gasoline. You don't always know what you are putting in your tank if the pump is not marked. It is prudent to find out what "brand" of gasoline that your favorite Convenience Store pumps. For example, I generally fuel at Circle K Convenience Stores. Down here in the Southeast Georgia, Circle K has Mobil formulated gasoline. Brands that I prefer are Exxon, Mobil, Shell and Chevron.

I do at circle k also. But I use the 89 not the non ethanol tho

 

My Gen 1 with 2UZ-FE has been on a steady diet of 87 Octane with 10% ethanol for 22 years. No issues.

 

Just make sure you don't use 100+ octane. Your octane sensors will think its AV gas and the ECU will make the truck go airborne.
