How's that metal roof? I just signed a contract for ours a couple of hours ago. Definitely has a price tag for sure. We went with the 24 guage standing seam, 30 year paint in Sandstone color, addition of hurricane straps, and demo/removal of the fireplace chimney. I would assume that the insurance company can adjust the premium once the roof is done?

Our old place near the Skyway had a metal roof, loved it. The sound of the rain hitting it at full pelt was something we miss with our POS shingle roof.

Added bonus was that we were underneath three very old oaks which regularly shed limbs, the larger ones never came down on the roof but some fairly significant lumps occasionally fell on the roof (as in 10' long!), battered the aluminum a bit but never punctured it nor affected the integrity of the seams. I know they were big enough to puncture a shingle roof because ours was a roof over and, despite being set on battens and insulated the impact of at least one limb managed to fracture the roof board under the old shingle. That was back when Irma decided to move slightly inland of us and leave us on it's dirty side.... took me three days of back breaking work to clear the crap out of our half acre yard. Some of the limbs were over 15" in diameter...

Those are "Nasty words" ; Irma and her 'Lil buddy Ian are why we now reside in Central Florida  :(...

The New home we purchased in December had just had the roof completely done so any changes will wait till warranty is dam near over BUT I do like

the "Metal roof" guys getting smarter with their products; Now you can "Create"

the Shingle look BUT have the efficiency of Lifetime Metal :thumbsup:

Alright folks, I’m looking for some fishing advice. The family and friends are headed to Destin in July and wanting to schedule a deep sea fishing trip. I have been looking online but would like some recommendations from the locals if you have a particular Capt. in mind. TIA.

Thanks I'm pretty stoked, I put about 200k on my old ranger, planning to keep this one until I retire.. or maybe past retirement lol.

Are there any meetups coming up soon? I know the clearwater one I saw, was hoping something would be closer and not 2.5 hours away.

What the hell took me so long to trip over this thread??

I'm in the trailer trash zone between Gainesville and Ocala. What can I say? My trailer, my boats, and both my Tundras are all paid for.

Cleaned Rotundra up a bit and aired out my RTT in anticipation for camping at the Southeast Adventure Vehicle Expo this weekend (Mar. 1-3, 2024) in Starke, FL. https://thesaveexpo.com/

Should be a fun weekend if the weather cooperates and the rain holds out. The “obstacle” course and offroad trail usually see a lot of Toyotas (and Jeeps) playing around all weekend long.

Thanks for posting this, it's less than an hour from me. I'm interested in that offroad trail if it's pretty mild, I'd have my wife and toddler with me.

So much has been going on, I forget about the different threads. Moved from St. Pete, to Old Town and joined the metal roof club. just brought the trailer smoker to the property yesterday and am now tinkering away on the home to get things settled. In the process, I bought a camper and removed my RTT, which I will eventually list for sale on the local sites. I am going to miss that thing, it definetely was not one of the "only used once" onces we see on FB all to often.

My only complaint on the metal roof so far is the color. The sounds of leaves hitting it, the rain coming down and the overall look is a huge win! I will say, the North side gets slippery AF and I did test out the roofs structure and have the welt to prove it lol.

The rims for the truck just got put on the back burner due to some family dynamics, but this truck has done a great job handling the miles and payloads. next up, collecting wood for the bon fire coming up...

not the best photo, but moving day + Starlink install day... The rood was not going to be touched for the install lol.

Did you get your metal roof installed? How was the company that did the work. We are looking at having a metal roof installed but the company we contacted has come by for a quote. We're in Arcadia and just finishing up on repairing the house and the roof is the next thing.

Yes I did. The installation was completed back in late July. I highly recommend the PolyIso insulation panels with it. I have 2 inch and it gives an R12 value between the metal and the plywood decking. My company did an excellent job on ours. @MikeyRedFL has a metal roof as well. He is near the Ft Meyers area I beleive.

Metal roofs are awesome. They are expensive, but they are worth it.

nice! I am under contract on my St. Pete condo now and am settling into the new property "up north." It came with a metal roof and I love the rain noises. The patio is also metal, different though, and it sounds awesome out there. I am not sure of the quality of this roof, but it has taken some hits and held up well so that makes me happy.

We had our done a few years ago with shingles. After that we had the spray foam insulation done. First summer I put a thermometer in the attic. Never saw above 85 degrees. We wanted to do a metal roof but the price was twice as much and just couldn't bring ourselves to do it.

We have an allocated amount that the insurance is paying us for the damages. I've been doing some of the interior work myself so it fees up funds to use elsewhere so we can use it for a steel roof. I asked fhe contractor who redid the carport which was the better roof option and he said hands down a metal roof. This is the third shingled roof that has been damaged in a hurricane. It's getting old so I'm OK with spending money on a steel roof.

That's awesome. Really glad it's working out for you. We are further inland and have been fortunate with weather. I agree metal is better. We plan on moving out one day and using this house as a rental property. Next home will get the metal roof.
