People take pics of Highlanders? :D

Actually, we sold to my friend next door so I can get a pic if you really want.

    Meanwhile, milestone hit today.

I wasnt a big fan of the sequoia until it was gone, and it was 2wd with brake activated lsd, but i have an xj. I really wanted the rear a/c pump & stuff. Would've been great if the tundra had a cap. Rear coil suspension and disc axles woulda been cool, too. But dad traded it to get a honda pilot for grandma, so i'm glad i didnt mangle it.

    The Tundra is my daily.

Work moved me to ATL from Gainesville in the early 2000s. After living north of Gainesville in the boonies, I already knew I HATE TRAFFIC. So I was smart and got an apartment across the street from where I worked. Eventually, I saw a killer deal on a new 4BR/2.5BA house 2 miles away, and talked my roommate/coworker into going in on it 20 years ago, then bought him out a few years later with my wife.

As much as I loathe living in the city - for the most part at least, there are a few benefits - I hate traffic even more. Through a couple of site moves, I've never been more than 5 miles from work, and I have about 5-10 unique non-interstate routes to get to work in under 15 minutes. That may change soon because they're talking about moving again by May of next year. I guess we'll see.

Big bonus is, my house, once in a neighborhood where sane people didn't move, is now hot shit and it'll easily pay for 20-40 acres and building about anywhere I want by the time we sell. Just gotta get the kids thru school and make sure they're set, and we're outta here.

MARTA's train system is awesome. Beats NYC subways any day. Not a huge fan of busses (period), MARTA busses are no diff't, but MARTA's train is convenient enough it'll get me within walking distance (2-4 miles) of anywhere I need to get to without boarding a bus. Transfers suck.

Look, I'm not too good to hop on public transpo. It's kinda like USPS. It's a service, and it usually works well, and a lot less expense than private services. It may not pull a profit, but universal public services rarely do. MARTA usually moves shit around efficiently, and when I need to get to the airport, with Uber running 4x-5x higher post-Covid, and taxis being a flat-rate $35 airport trip, it's a no-brainer to hop on a train with your suitcase for a couple bucks knowing the train dead-ends into the terminal.

But I drive my damn truck every time I get the chance, any excuse I can make. I've put a little over 10k miles on it now in the last 4-5 years.

Just took one this weekend, to Birmingham AL. But yeah, I'd rather hit T2S. Just can't make it work this year.

Sounds like you have a similar situation to me with the proximity to work, however I could never do the subway again after doing it for so long as a student and packing into a train everyday trying to find something to grab onto so you wouldn’t fall over after a sudden stop or sitting with someone’s groin in your face but that’s me. I’m guessing it’s not that bad in Atlanta though hopefully.

One thing I do have an appreciation for after living at GT is triple pane sound deadening windows and cinder block walls. They really do make a difference when you live in the Annex of an all female dorm with I75 50 ft away from you and the sound of traffic coming through your window all day, everyday.

How fast are you going? Usually, it’s WOT, OD off, getting near 4k rpm on an open road and certainly not in the rain. haha

You run it for 5-10 minutes like that every so often provided you know you won’t get pulled over or wreak the truck.

A little progress.......decided to quit farting around and went with the slightly less bright projectors with their builtin threaded shaft. Hopefully they are level enough I don't need to mangle the mounting collar.

Installed my Skidrow Off-road catalytic converter guard today. Took about a month to arrive (website said 3-4 weeks).

just to recap I almost got my cats stolen a month ago. Someone stopped them or scared them away. So lucky
    [IMG]

Had a shop do a patch job and had some rebar welded also. these welds are bad I know. It was a bandaid while I waited for the guard to arrive
    [IMG]

install took about 35 min, and a lot of curse words. The plate it heavy af. Also Only took one trip to Home Depot for a 3/8 drill bit.

After that gave it a good car wash

Need to get mine installed also. Hopefully tomorrow.

On another note, I got the projectors installed. Once installed, I noticed the rotation off a bit. I am going to blame the Chinesium lights on that. I ended up taking the H4 mounting collar and grinding down the clocking leg to allow me to freely rotate the projector. I got it leveled and will put a small dab of JB Weld on it to keep it from rotating again due to vibration.

Performance is not too bad. Its better than LED bulbs in Chinesium headlights, better than halogen for sure. The width isn't as good as my previous setup, Morimoto Mini D2S 5.0 Bi-xenon projectors. The high beam is not too bad either. The Chinesium lights are not built very well and when adjusting the height, the passenger side topped out and stopped moving up. Then I was able to pull the top of the light back which raised the light level to max, which then allows me to adjust the reflector bowl back down to keep the light out of oncoming drivers' eyes. I am satisfied with them. I don't drive this truck much at night but my pops will. He took it for a spin and gave me 2 thumbs of approval. The low beam pic I have included is prior to grinding down the clocking leg on the H4 mounting collar so they looked rotated a bit left too high.

These pics are about 30 feet back from that wall.

Low Beam (Already adjusted rotation to level after taking this picture)
