Snap the pinion gear or sheer the teeth off it would be my guess given the description.

Either that or the spider gears gave up the ghost.

Well crap. Took the wheel off my truck and shape of the airbag and mounting bracket are slightly different. Mine was made 11/99. Guess I had a brain fart with the truck in the yard made 12/00 so it must be a 2001 and I guess they are different. If anyone wants this wheel let me know and it’s yours

Well, I was traveling for 20 miles on the freeway, at high speed, exiting I caught a green light, making a left hand turn under the overpass, and when I went from the brake to the gas, it just spun as if it’s in neutral. If I sheared off all the teeth on the pinion, I would’ve heard/felt it for sure. And there would still be crunchy noises. That’s what’s got me is that I never heard anything from the rear end, and not so much as a hard shift. Never slammed brakes or floored throttle either. Engaging locker does nothing, and it’s not losing air. I just finally got it in the driveway. I’ll have it open in a couple hours to see what the shitpissfuckcuntcocksuckermotherfuckertitsfartturdtwat is goin on in there

    Get pics of the carnage.

my first guess is axle splines. Or they didnt shim something right & the pinion isnt reaching the ring.

Surely something just slipped, somehow the pinion and ring gears aren’t connecting? You’d have heard something otherwise, if something catastrophic happened, you surely would’ve heard it? At least a loud crack, or things rattling around. I’ll be curious to see what you’re looking at. You’re not running stock rear, but I don’t remember what you stuffed in there.

If the pinion gear snapped right behind the pinion flange it could have the symptoms you're describing.

It's been a bit since install... it would have been whining or howling if it was that off, from the get go.

    But yes, we like pics.

I don't see that as possible. Things are way too close together for that to happen. Not without some kind of catastrophic failure.

“Connecting” was maybe the wrong word to use. “Engaging” is more apropos.

The 2000s compared to all the rest of them have different wheels. Don't be fooled by a camry wheel of similar year either. The airbag won't mount up even though the shape is almost identical.

Exactly what I was going to recommend. This is the last one I bought because one I bought prior lacked the three starting from top left shown. I prefer the kit @KNABORES linked b/c it has the screw-in fasteners that'll work with our front turn signal housings:

Nice bright output but me thinks your lows and fogs shouldn't light up tree branches that high up. I'd adjust both downward a bit.

I also received my part for projector Jerry rigged shaft mount. Hope this works or else I'll have to go with the other slightly less bright threaded shaft projectors.
