So I just received the harness for the 2018 Sequoia headlights. Used OEM headlights that have been bench tested. Got everything put together - followed directions to a T.

Started the truck and within 3 seconds of the truck turning on it died. Started it again, same thing. Pulled the plugs that attach the headlights it died again. Plugged just the left light in and all it did was click when i turned the ignition.

At this point i was pretty worried i burnt something up so i took it all off, installed my originals and checked operation. Luckily they are working. Any ideas?

Did you swap the correct fuse? and did you push the adapter all the way in?

The directions say to pull the 10 amp from the ignition fuse position and put it in the add a fuse with the other supplied 10amp. So (2) 10 amp fuses in the add a fuse. Pushed it in til felt fully seated.

I think if it weren’t seated it wouldn’t even start..

I think the most confusing thing is that no fuses pop, but the truck dies

Just thought about pushing it in an remembered it did look a lot shorter than a fuse. I wonder if this is it - last photo is from the directions

Yeah, that's the one I mean. Gotta make sure it's all the way in, or you'll have issues, since I'm assuming will lose contact with ignition and fail to start. Since it's the ignition fuse, maybe that's the reason you're stalling. Now I disconnected the negative battery terminal, before I did any type of pulling of fuses.

So I went to oriellys and bought another add a fuse. This one has much longer prongs. Hooked everything back up but didn’t fully install. Started and it ran perfect. Figured case closed. Finished putting the lights in and buttoning everything up. Started it after everything installed and it died out again… So took everything apart, made sure everything was tight, reinstalled and it started and ran fine.

Not really feeling awesome about this but I’ve started and tested a few times without issue. Would really hate for it to take a shit while driving down the highway though.

Can I unplug each side at a time? Any trouble shooting tips? I can run a multimeter very well just don’t have a diagram.

If you disconnected the battery, it's normal for it to die first time. Should run normal after.

So just to update and finish this thread, I’m relatively sure it started and died after install because of the battery being disconnected. I started the truck after installing and the truck died after about 2 seconds. I immediately turned the key off and disconnected the battery again to double check everything. Then obviously I started it and it died again. I read another forum this is because the key needs to relearn? It’s running fine now. Will update if any other issues show up.
