Yup! Might be longer too because i won't buy her a vehicle. She needs to come up with at least half the cost of the vehicle she wants.

Got luck with that....my kids and my nephews don't like cleaning up after themselves. Mt kitchen shows it this morning too:mad:

So I finally filled up. As soon as the fuel light came on, I filled her. It only took 29 gallons. How big is the reserve on this thing?????

I'm getting 13.5 mpg. The 38 gallon tank is nice but I still fill up once a week because of my commute. Weird thing about the tank is my odo will say I have 30 miles to empty and the gas pump will still stop when it gets around 30-31 gallons, any ideas on why that is?

Same here. I left the dealership and it said 600. A year later it's settled down to 450-470. Depends on my driving style. :D

Found out the hard way that the local gas pump will shut off after $80.

It was explained to me at the dealership that the fuel pump is at the bottom of the tank and toyota doesnt want the tank to get so low as it will stir up all the crap at the bottom, so the low fuel light will come on when you still have 5-6 gal's left. The most gas you'll ever put in will be 32-33 gal's and still have a big reserve. So when that low fuel light comes on we still have quite a bit of gas left.
    I usually get about 15 mpg. I towed a 20' camping trailor on a 750 mile trip and avg'd 7mpg..

My range is theoretically just over 900 miles at ~13mpg (combined) with my total tank capacity of 71.4 gallons (26.4 gallons on primary tank and 45 gallons on auxiliary gravity-fed tank). Even if I save a ~5-gal reserve before the light turns on, that's about 65 gallons of gas I can burn through and just over 800 miles. With spirited driving, drop that down to 700 miles.

Oh, I have to put premium gas (because supercharger) and I live in California. So that's easily $200 in gas (Costco) to top off, haha.

Edit: When loaded down with gear for long trips, my MPG drops to about 11 and just over 700 miles of normal driving ..or 600 of spirited (or a lot of hill climbs).

Long story short, it stops at 30-31 gallons because you still actually have 7-8 gallons left. You can still drive around for another day, I've done it just to test it out. The Mose ice filled my 38 gallon tank up with is 36.3 gallons.. it's your reserve left in the tank and for safety.

My fuel light usually comes on around 425 to 450. At 15K total miles I am averaging 14.1 mpg based on actual miles driven / gallons consumed. I use the Fuelly app to keep track. I do about 50/50 hwy/city and there are a number of deer-lease runs in there where I'm pulling the RV or the Ranger Trailer. Mpg on those runs goes down to 9-10.

well... 600 miles if I ran the tank dry. obviously, I am not going to do that. I was filling up around 500 miles (about 32 gallons worth). my commute is mostly highway miles so that's probably why its higher.

Ah ya I normally have half a tank in like 1.5-2 weeks of driving... most my driving is in the City unless we do stuff over the weekend... I cant complain though really 2 weeks to fill up half a tank and if im lucky gas prices are down that day? I can get away with $30 at the pump! When i drove my honda... I ALWAYS had to fill up every 2 weeks and that was coming close to the gas light... using Premium was like $30-$35ish 10 gallon tank vs 36

There is no reserve persay, it is a safety feature to keep the in-tank fuel pump submersed. This keeps it from overheating. The most I have every fit in my truck was 31 gallons and normally 29-30 with the fuel light on.

My truck has the 38 gallon as well and my range is around 450-500 miles. My tank lasts over a month now though since my driving has gone down a bunch I do maybe 20 miles a week at the last and maybe 40 as a high.
