Starting my own 3rd Gen Highlander thread here because the ToyotaNation forum for the 3rd Gen is mostly whining. Not super surprised because it’s not a vehicle one will be doing many mods to. I did learn a few things but not without wading through threads like “Is it possible to run down the battery by leaving the light on?”

Well if you find yourself in possession of a highlander perhaps I can save you some time.

Here’s what I learned that is useful:
    1. Need ‘special’ AGM battery if equipped with auto stop.
    2. 17-18’s have a TSB to reprogram transmission logic.
    3. Some timing covers leak on v6 may be fairly common issue.
    4. Does not fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood.
    4a. Still equipped with a seat-back-purse ( :boink:).
4b. Appears to come equipped with a transmission cooler, but not confirmed for a 2019 :notsure:.

    Not useful:
    1. Windshields crack cause they are made of glass.
    2. Some people like 2nd row bench seat, some people like captains chairs.
    3. A Toyota is a BMW?
    4. Bug deflectors and Deer whistles work, no they don’t, yes they do.

All this to say that Tundras.com is the best!

I realize that the Highlander isn't targeted at off-roaders or but I have never considered one due to the fact that it reminds me of a minivan. The Grand Highlander looks a bit more "manly" but I will need to see one in person first.

But I am interested in your thread. Thanks for starting it!

Ours will be built this week. I haven't been able to find a good forum for Highlanders. I've been spoiled by Tundras.com
