    Nothing.... yet.
As a quick update, I've ordered an uptop overland rack with full width load bars. I'm gonna figure out how to get it working, and then get back with pics. Possibly replace the gas struts for shorter ones...

Whatever ends up, I'll post pics.

One more line of questioning for those who have had leaks at the air vent:

If you have had a leak at the air vent, were you able to resolve this issue? What was the cause? Wind driven rain or did it leak when stationary as well? What did you do to resolve the leak? If not, what have you tried that hasn't worked?

We currently have the Tacoma prototype. Tundra won't be until mid 23.

Has anyone found a shroud or gap filler to put between their cab and Smartcap? My space fills up with snow creating visibility issues.

Debating on keeping my order active for a Lone Peak Camper, or buying one of these and keeping my RTT. I like the idea of being able to fit in the garage lol (with the RTT off, of course). Are the new latches out yet? The ones that can unlock/open from the inside? We will be using the RTT when the fam comes camping, but wanted to be able to sleep in the bed with the pup during our solo fishing trips, so want to be able to open/close/lock/unlock from the inside.

Hey guys, waiting on my smartcap now but I was wondering. Any surfers out there?
I have boards between 9-11 ft + a 22ft outrigger canoe (weights 20lbs) that I'd want to transport.

Would you rack them on the smartcap with bars + yakima rack or on the cab roof with some clamp bars + yakima rack.

Given the truck is around 19' long, I would probably put one Yakima load bar on the roof and one load bar on the RSI cap.

I love my smart cap on my Tacoma, I just wish they would come up with the new locks we keep hearing about.

I’ve heard they exist, but haven’t seen any photos yet.

If I hadn’t purchased an ARE a few years back, I’d definitely grab one of these. Such a nice option with lots of functionality.

This is a photoshop image of the commercial cap on a voodoo blue. Like the security features and also the white will keep it cool in summers. 20200902_123621-Copy (1) copy.jpg

Just picked up my gen 3 tundra. I want the smart cap but I want to run prinsu racks on the cab and camper shell and have them be level. Easy to do on a fiberglass shell but the top of the smart cap is different. Looks higher than the cab along the edges where the built in rack mounting is. Anyone got any good photos of the top of their smart cap? Or running double prinsu racks with the smart cap. Building the tundra like my tacoma.(sold for 39k with 65k mikes) thanks!

IMG_3129.png I’m very interested in a Smartcap for my third Gen (‘22) Tundra. Mine is a long bed, I’m hoping for pics on the 6.5’.

I reached out to RSI and they sent me a pic of the EVO Sport on 3rd gen. I really like the fit and look. I’m very interested in a pic of the adventure model on a 3rd Gen, haven’t seen one yet.

I’m worried about the reports I’ve heard of cold weather ice and snow totally locking out the door hardware. That would be terrible if true. Also not being able to open the windows
from the inside, very concerning. Seems like at least more than a year since this (upgrade) has been reported to be happening, any updates re whether we can open from inside on the new models?

I’m torn between sport and adventure. I like the windows they look truly awesome. However, for actual security, the adventure (may) make more sense. I’m thinking of working with Off-road Alliance they seem to have the best selection and are listed as an online dealer. Anyone worked with them? Thoughts gratefully appreciated.

I really don’t know which I’ll go with. Not sure if MOLLE will be helpful. I like the clean look of the glass. But solid may be sweet as well, need pics on the adventure model.

Also apparently we can get the security screen for back window. What are your thoughts between sport and adventure? Also what roof rack did you go for?

The 3rd gen Tundra caps have yet to be made. What you see is the Owners personal truck with a prototype cap on it. The production cap may have some small changes. The release date has been kicked back on the new latches, however it is quite likely that when they are actually made that the caps will come with the new latches. I personally run adventure models because I always have at least one Bin and it doesn't made sense for ME to have a glass door in a side bin. We run Front runner racks on most.

Thank you Mike for this update! Excited to be in touch with you and I appreciate this information re the new latches. Are the new latches both cold resistant and able to be opened from the inside? If so that is outstanding.

Also great to know that you run adventure models instead of sport. Can you tell me more about the side bins? I don’t yet know about your shop but I get the feeling you are also an RSI dealer, do you ship the smartcaps directly to us end users?

I look forward to learning more about the racks and other accessories that integrate with the smartcaps and what you recommend. I’ve heard the 3rd Gen caps are going to be manufacturered at the Texas factory this coming August and want to place an order once I decide on the details.

Yes the latches are cold resistant and can open from the inside
The side bins turn one side into a storage area.
We ship all over the US
I definitely recommend a set of load bars and the Drop Down table.
