I recently had a run-in with a large, antlered whitetail deer. I figured out the Tundra has pretty good knock down power and sent him spinning down the side of the truck. Driver door was crushed. My truck is in the shop and I recently found out the door is on back order with no release date. My insurance rental is dwindling away so I’m desperate for information or options. I saw this was a Cool Springs thread and I’m a actually local here in Murfreesboro. Has anyone had similar issues or does anyone know anything about a release date for the part?

Having that issue with all sorts of parts from Toyota. Hopefully your body shop can locate a used one.

Currently have a 2020 we are working on, radiator support same thing, back ordered no release date. Luckily we were able to locate a used on, ordered it had it shipped in for more then what the new part would have cost, but we are able to get repairs back in motion.

I have a 2017 Toyota Tundra 1794 Edition and my truck has been in the repair shop since Dec 21, 2022 because there is a back order on driver side doors. I was told they are 591 on back order. This is totally unacceptable in my opinion. They can’t even find a used door to supplement for a new door. Any advice?

Not that I need one (right now LOL) but how is this still a thing? I mean, I get supply chain issues, but with things opening back up and all that, I thought this was getting better.

    Global economy is complicated and
We're finding out just turning it off and on is easier said than done.

May still be problems in the country where the steel is mined, or with the shipping mechanisms to get it to where it becomes a door. Could be labor shortages anywhere in the pipeline not directly related to COVID but the economy since COVID. COVID is basically over but there is a slow domino effect in a lot of areas from the shutdown that isn't finished yet. Ford is still right now taking popular features out of various trims and eliminating them or Moving them up one trim level to be able to preserve enough chips to keep pumping trucks out of the factory.

@natewill540 So an update on my situation, I am actually an insurance adjuster in auto claims so I was fortunate enough to be familiar with the body shop process. Your body shops will pretty much have a handful of recycled or LKQ vendors they use and automatically resort to OEM if nothing is available thru their preferred recy vendors. Most of the time they won’t bother to look outside the few salvage yards they do business with. Me being an adjuster, I was looking online and calling to salvage yards all around the area and actually found the door they used on my truck for them. I was sending emails to the shop daily of screenshots and quotes for available parts. They were going to sit and wait in Toyota until the door arrived.

A good resource is Car-Parts.com so look there. I found out that the same exact door shell was used on Tundras and Sequoias from 2008-2021. No variation or difference with the shell itself at all. When searching you will see options like “auto up/down” and the like but it doesn’t matter, the shop will be transferring your inner components anyways. It’s the exact same door on all those models so there is a high likelihood there is a used one available near you.

I’d suggest going car-part and getting quotes for used assys. Add the shop email to the online quote so they receive it too. Try diff searches like sequoia or diff trim levels. Once you find some just blow the shop up letting them know they are available. Good luck!
