GEN 3 (2022+) Wheels and Tires Photo thread

Hey guys. Looking for some assistance on the wheels. I just ordered my 2023 Platinum. Will be bringing wheels from my 2010 tundra. 295/55/r20. Obviously have to change the wheels out. Curious what offset if anyone knows I will need. thinking +18 on a 20x9 rim. Any suggestions would be great! having a hard time finding anything that will fit. LOL

 

I was told the factory offset on OEM wheels is +60. I’m currently running a wheel and tire combo with the same width you are looking at. 295/70R17 at +10 offset this gives me a little bit of poke. I don’t have any rubbing but I did have to pin back the wheel well felt. So far I’m not having any issues, but I am considering a slight front suspension upgrade to try and level the truck. The problem I have is the rear air suspension I have. I like to have that capability, so I’m probably not going to go too crazy with it. I know you’ve probably heard this before but it all depends on what you want really. The bolt pattern was changed from a 5 to 6 bolts so you will have to get new wheels for sure, so keep that in mind. Also if you are planning on lifting at all, I’ve been told that the AVS and air ride make it harder to lift the trim levels with those options. I think Wescott makes a kit for it, but I am unfamiliar with any other at the moment. My best suggestion would be to ask a tire store like Discount Tire or your local 4wheel custom shop, they can give you an accurate run down of offset to help you make an educated decision based off your tire choice.

Tires have done very well in my opinion. I live in Northwestern Pennsylvania and our winters are usually very heavy with snow as we get pounded with lake effect snow from Lake Erie.

 

I love my truck! I came from a 2013 Tundra SR5 with the 4.6L V8 in it and the new SR has exceeded my expectations.

I’m looking at the methods mr316 and the new mr318s has anyone run hub centric rings with method wheels?

 

You will want to run the hub rings, I tried that once with one of my other cars and it was unbearable. The vibration started at about 40 mph and got worse the faster you went. Eventually shaking all your fillings out!

 

I can only find hub centric rings 106 to 95.1 method wheels are 106.25 wanting to know if that’s okay.

 

I think there was a post in this thread some time ago about someone finding a company on e-bay that made every size imaginable. You could also get some made if you know if a fab shop that could make some. I did that for some wheels in the past. Try searching the forum for hub rings and see if that turns up.

Blackhorn bh01’s without rings, but bought some to have put on whenever I get a rotation next

 

My method 316 came with rings but they wouldn’t fit with them on. You don’t need them. Ring included was not labeled with a size. You will need ET lug nuts though

I noticed a bit more harshness in the ride with the wildpeaks, but nothing crazy. It's starting to mellow out now too after a few hundred miles.

 

For reference stock 18” styled steel wheels and oem Yokohama Geolander tires weigh 78.2 pounds and stock TRD 20” wheels with oem Bridgestone Wildpeaks weigh 75.6 pounds.

 

Need some advice. I really like the Blackhorn BH01s. Cannot stand that silver on TRD OR 18'
On my Tacoma I went a size up from stock Firestone 265/65/17 to Good Year Wrangler 265/70/17 and same offset wheel. It's nothing crazy and I am fine with that. So coming back to Tundra, what else would I need to go with 285/75/17 Discoverer AT3. I don't really think about lift but would do RC 1.75 leveling kit if need it. But a thing to consider here is I use my truck for work and on a daily basis I carry around 300 pounds plus another 100 would be Retrax I am considering. Does that mean I would rather need a 3/1 lift instead of just a level kit?

 

You wont need to do anything for 285/75/17 tires to work. You could change out the rear springs to accommodate the weight in the back and not just add a spacer, it’s the same work to add a spacer or change the spring. Thank you! Yes, the dealership put the tires on. They actually had the best price I could find, and were willing to price match if I could find better. The dealer also recommended the tire installer's business for a lift (he has his own business that specializes in modifying Toyota trucks), so working with him to have Bilstein 5100 ride height adjustable shock absorbers installed to do a very slight lift in the front. They are just not available yet in Canada. Additionally, the parts department at the dealership has been very helpful helping me find other components for the truck. Very happy with this dealership so far.

Yes, in Manitoba.

I spoke with ckautofab about the using the ride height adjustable shocks, and they indicated that is the only component required for a lift of about an inch.

 

I am getting ready to upgrade my tires and wheels on my truck. I have been flip flopping between staying with the 18's or going to the 17's. I know a lot of guys have gone to the 17's. Has anyone had any issues running the 17's on their trucks? Thanks in advance.

 

17s are close but fit and the wheel weights need to placed to clear the calliper.

 

Ignorant question incoming: are the Bilstein 5100 adjustable shock absorbers for the front only? Do you have a link you can share for these?

 

Bilstein 5100 have an adjustable collar you can move up and down to level the truck, I had them on my Tacoma they are nice stock replacement.

I want to upgrade my 285/65/18 OEM Wild Peaks to A/T3W's. I wouldn't mind going a bit bigger but don't need huge as I don't want to mess with the fuel efficiency too much. Anyone have a recommendation? Stock TRD Pro.
