That might get maxed out if you're upgrading pulleys...base pressure set be 60psi, that only leaves room for 10psi of boost before it's unable to keep up with increased air pressure.

Oh wow, I never noticed that before. I thought it had a higher range. Pay no attention to the man behind the keyboard...

Thanks for the info, missing parts and poor customer service turns me off. I cant even find anything on YouTube about the Whipple with the Tundra. I am probably going to go with the Magnuson as I need the truck to be a reliable daily driver for the next 10 years.

After I get out of this soothing, calming bath, I'm gonna check this out. If you tighten the vacuum port down too much it can interfere with the internal pressure spring. Not sure if that would be my case, since mine was more sudden. Learning towards the internal seal not seating

    Too many mods to come

Not many running the whipple. The whipple is very reliable on many platforms across the board and makes awesome power. Outside of the missing hardware and service it’s great unit.

Whatever you do, make sure you get a good tune and not the boxed shit that ships with the superchargers. That's the key to longevity imo. There's lots of people running the stock tune without issue, but for not much money you can have a much happier engine.

I took the Aeromotive fpr completely apart and put back together. Nothing obviously wrong to my eyes. But still super low fuel pressure on the gauge. Hopefully the new fpr comes in early in the day tomorrow

Whatever this forum told me to do
now that I have a boost gauge...it is quite interesting when boost is actually happening.

with me it's very rarely. on-ramps are ~4.5 psi

otherwise, a firm push from a light is around 2psi.

I saw 8psi on a log pull on the hwy...10.8AFR.

I'm about to get in a wreck watching the gauges.

But all other times I'm negative boost. cruising to work at 58mph....negative boost.

am I supposed to be seeing -14psi? or is the gauge wonky?

Is this tune something that I could get from member here? I am comparing it to a power commander in a motorcycle where you simply upload a new map which would be sent via email. Or does the truck have to be there at the the dyno facility where they can physically tune it in person?

When not in boost the gauge is reading the usual vacuum from the engine as would be found on an NA intake manifold (displayed in inches of mercury not psi). It’s working properly. It’s a good way of judging how loaded the engine is in a particular gear as well. If you’re in 6th for example and start climbing a decent hill without it downshifting you’ll see it creep up from inches of mercury vacuum to 0psi, push the pedal further and it will go positive and start reading higher PSIG. It’s at that point you see the SC doing work as the bypass starts closing and giving you way more gear holding power in those situations that an NA truck would definitely be downshifting in.

There are members that can help with tunes, you need the device of the software being used, an OBD2 dongle. I have an HP Tune MPVI2+

Thanks, so is the generic tune that comes with the supercharger safe to use for everyday long term use? Looking at the Magnuson or Whipple for my 2018. Thanks

I am not aware of the base tune causing harm, I do know tuners have said it was insufficient when looking at the motor's stats.

Speaking of HP Tunes, anyone have any insight into the MPVI3? Seems they have been worse than OV Tune on promised release dates. (promised late December, mid January, early February & now TBD....

I’d say do it right from the beginning and don’t half ass it, you’re already spending a ton of money. The provided tune may be OK, but others have seen knock and less than ideal AFRs with the provided tunes. This would be my game plan if I were you for each of the kits based on what they lack as they come.

Magnuson: buy the kit, larger injectors than are supplied, a larger fuel pump than is supplied and a custom tune.

Harrop: buy the kit, larger injectors (none are supplied), a larger intake box, and a custom tune. The fuel pump supplied in the kit is sufficient. The stock airbox is borderline on the stock pulley but will be too small with a smaller pulley.

Whipple: buy the kit, the supplied injectors and pump are sufficient, buy a larger intake box, and a custom tune. The stock airbox is borderline on the stock pulley but will be too small with a smaller pulley.

Unfortunately you can't just clear permanent codes. The lean condition will have to be repaired first and those codes will be deleted from the ecu after a specific drive cycle is performed.

I've seen that trick before. Waiting 13 months on my M3 hood that said Available in 2-3 days. After you completely place the order, get an email saying it's on backorder. AFE did the same to me also.
