Volunteered for the local ride-along program. It'll be one night a week for 10 weeks. Approx 3 hours per run.

    Always wanted to do it.

    What should I expect?

Try to keep a journal of the experience as the weeks and months go by. Might even be fun to try and make some predictions about the good and bad effects doing this will have on your life. Then when something happens you can always say "I knew it, I even wrote it down, look right here!" At which point you can reward yourself or kick yourself for knowing. Someday your kids, maybe even grandkids can read through it and sort of experience a special part of you. Good luck with it!

Just do a lot of Farva quotes and you will be fine. Cool opportunity. I always enjoyed my ride-a-longs in CA. Learned a lot:

-I had a better arsenal than the CHP did at the time.
-No way in hell did I have the correct temperament/mentality for that career.
-Shit can go sideways in an instant.

In Conroe who knows what type of calls they’ll get. You will have to stay in the cruiser and watch but you should see what they go thru on a daily run. Plus you will get to hear all the calls!! :)

Most ride alongs here, consist of heading out in the Supervisor car, no action or first response calls. They aren't going to put civilians in any danger.

Police Radio was my favorite part of working in CPIC, similar.to the NCIC or whatever it is called down there.

F that. I'd bail if they end up doing that to me.

There's a plenty of women they've accepted so I'd expect them to enjoy that option.

I'm optimistic that I'll get in on some actual COPS action lol

I was riding along with Fresno County Sheriffs Deputies (CA) for a while. They seemed to get more action for sure. One night the deputy I normally rode with got a call for domestic violence and shit got real. We went Ludacris Speed to get there (sounded like someone was getting hurt badly). Right before he went in, he unlocked the shotgun and said "this could get sporty...big mofo. You know how to use a shotgun? Nevermind...I forgot."

He all went Leroy Jenkins in that house. Luckily it ended without incident. That was one big mofo.

No kidding. Now this was in the mid-90's in CA. It was pretty wild out there.

Post. Believe that incident happened in 1992? Could be wrong. NWA was pretty big and it was blasting everywhere....

Really depends on the City/County jurisdiction that you'll be with, and how pro active the officer is. Generally if they put you with someone w/2-3 years on they're still motivated to shake the trees and will get you into some shit (again depending on jurisdiction).

Many agencies are suppressed at this point due to politics and Admin crap, so don't be surprised if you find yourself w/officer(s) that are being purely reactive.

I hope you have fun though and get the opportunity to see some good $hit!!!!

To me that looks like you're only getting 1 ride along on March 15th (handwritten note for patrol). The rest look like courses at a facility?

Either way I hope you have fun, just soak up the whole experience and keep an open mind about it. You decide don't let others decide for you what your experience turns out to be
