I’ve been lurking around for a little bit and finally bit the bullet back in November 2022. Found a few Sequoias down here in South Carolina but this one kept my attention. 2011 Sequoia Platinum in Pyrite Mica w/ 130k miles. Definitely won’t be Overlanding, it’s more of a fashionable bug out vehicle. Just about everything has been sourced from the folks in this forum. Without everyone’s input here I wouldn’t know where to start.

Sorry for the overwhelming post. This place has been a great resource and I realize this is just the beginning. The guys at the station have named the Sequoia as my “zombie crusher”. Oh well, it’s fun.

I stole your exact wheel idea. I liked the way yours looked.

The Toyota badge is an overlay. The hatch “whatever it’s called” just prep, prep, and paint.

Minor update. Still waiting on my paint guy for the grill and fender flares to me painted. Nonetheless made a CarPlay mod that works for me.

Steering wheel overlay. Btw, why would Toyota use brown trim. Really dislike it.

Yet another minor update. Wanted a little better visibility while towing the boat. I put on the Boost towing mirrors on my ‘17 Ram I had and really like them. I didn’t feel like spending that much again. So I opted for the Spotter Mirror https://spottermirror.com/make/toyota/sequoia/
Time will tell if it will meet my needs.
    Before and after.

    Overall easy install, 25 minutes.

I did the mid tone, 20” x 4’. It was very close with little excess. If I were to do it again, 20”x5’ for peace of mind. I only “helped” but it is not difficult, mostly patience. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it myself.

Awesome build! Definitely an inspiration for my 2013 platinum I just picked up for the misses. Mind me asking what were the part numbers for the black door handles and black side mirror caps in the first few pictures? Thanks!

The handles were from ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/374468796990 which surprisingly come down in price.
The mirror caps as well https://www.ebay.com/itm/374067750492. If I were to do it again I would probably go matte finish. No reason other than preference.

Last week decided I wanted more tone out of the old Sequoia’s backside. After a brief trip down that rabbit hole I settled on the Magnaflow exhaust, with factory resonator and cats. Nothing aggressive since I tow a boat and still keep the wife happy. I have to admit it sounds incredible, from the outside. The drone is unbelievable inside. I believe it’s louder inside the cab than outside. Needless to say I learned my lesson and ordered the Dirty Deeds exhaust this morning. Everyone here raves about and I’m looking forward to it.

Hope I'm not bothering you with all the questions, it's just your build is legit! How did you blackout the "Sequoia" and the "iForce V8" emblem's on the rear tailgate? Plastidip, Overlays, or new parts? Thanks for the help!

Thank you. It’s not a bother at all. The iForce emblem is from eBay I believe. It’s just the Tundra side emblem in matte black. It’s not exactly the same size and shape (flat, while the original is raised at the bottom. I painted the Sequoia (whatever it’s called). Toyota wants a fortune for it but used ones are easy to find. So I figured give it a shot. I think wrap would probably look better but I have never really done it. But I can push a button on a can. Lots of sanding and prep.

Got an itch last week and the beer fridge was full so I decided to paint the factory roof rack. It was pretty faded and various shades of black to grey. After looking at my wife’s Volvo I decided to paint the rails dark grey (satin soft iron) for a little contrast. Of course while I started this process my dirty deeds exhaust arrived, so busy week.
    IMG_2388.jpg IMG_2392.jpg IMG_2395.jpg IMG_2394.jpg

Of course everyone is familiar with the Dirty Deeds exhaust. Exhaust Squid as I call it. 70465891446__A489A708-5C82-4FDE-B674-8FA5DD3D76E6.jpg
I still get some drone but nearly as bad as the Magnaflow. The secondary resonator you bolt wasn’t installed due to a bad angle from the builder. It would literally lay on top the evac lines. See how it goes.

Long time coming but finally got the nerve to paint my grille and bump out. Not perfect but I couldn’t stand the chrome grille anymore. The color match turned out nice but factory clear coat is shinier.

What paint did you use for the roof rack?

Did you get your DD exhaust sorted out?

Yes sir and the exhaust is phenomenal. I got the second resonator to fit after some fussing and cussing. No exhaust drone at all.

This is the paint I used on the crossbars (https://www.rustoleum.com/product-c...allic-spray-paint?ls=271473&lc=Flat Soft Iron). Flat Soft Iron is the color. It was the closest to the Method Wheels color I could find.
I repainted the plastic trim with this (https://www.rustoleum.com/product-c...s/auto/specialty-paints/trim-and-bumper-paint). Worked really well, almost looks new.

Were you able to fit those 275/70R18 wheels with no lift on the sequoia?
