Right? I was impressed by the packaging, myself, not an easy task for me

Yeah I was surprised and slightly irritated when I saw it. The box had been retaped so I don't know if they blew the box out or I got a return or what? It was boxed up pretty well but had definitely been retaped. We shall see what console vault says.

I'm thinking of swapping out the lock for one of these:

    https://www.amazon.com/Pothunder-Fingerprint-biometric-Furniture-Document/dp/B09HCDST56

The console has a 12V line in it, so having a USB adapter providing it with a full charge easily is of no concern. Big fan of quick access, and Bluetooth + fingerprint's quicker than needing a lightsource to read a combination lock of any kind. Might just try this out and let you guys know if it's a straight swap, pretty sure it is, looks a standard 19mm cam lock.

Thats pretty cool. I like that the charge port is on the outside. So if it dies, you can charge it and still get it open. Let us know how it works, this seems like a nice upgrade to my cheap Amazon half safe

It should fit, 17mm is real close to 5/8".

So I got around to putting this in today!

It's slightly too long, but! I reused the additional hardware from the original lock as a small spacer, and it works perfectly now.
    20230212_114008.jpg

Edit: to be more specific, I removed the old lock, took the black spacer and the slightly-larger-diameter nut on the lock, put it through the lid, and put the included locking nut on. Cranked down to fairly tight, and everything lines up nicely. Would recommend programming it to your phone via the eSmartlock app, getting your fingerprints on it, and then installing it physically. You can add plenty of fingerprints, put mine and the fiance into it, works pretty darn quickly. Took a video but unsure how to post it up to these forums.

My console vault came in yesterday. I ordered the top of the line lock since it was on sale and I have to say that the lock works. It spins if you don't have the correct combination. I know this because when I was resetting the combo, the paper clip must have slipped out of the reset button, and I have no idea what it set to. After a few hours of trying to get it to unlock last night, I wrote Console Vault.

They got back to me early this morning, told me how to drill it out and offered to send me a new lock. The kicker is that they also offered to set the combo for me so I wouldn't have to try to do it again (probably recognizing that I'm an idiot and I'll most likely screw up the new one too). All of this for free.

If that's not customer service, I don't know what is.

See now that's what I like to hear about. I feel good recommending a business that's good to their customers.

I had a different experience with console vaults customer service.

I accidentally ordered the CV with the key. I meant to get the combo lock, same price.
My mistake and when I emailed CV telling them about my mistake they sent me a link to buy a different lock and told me it was easy to swap the locks when I received the one I bought.

I was hoping to swap locks with them but it's not really a big deal, Ill just keep the keyed lock.

How did you remove the tray brackets? They look like rivets, won't go in without removal.

Anyone else experience this? Or am I missing something lol.

I still have not heard from them regarding the damaged lock. It's been days.

That's crazy - like I said, I wrote them last night using their contact form. They wrote me this morning and said to let them know if I was gonna drill out the lock. I wrote them back (had to use the contact form because you can't reply to their emails) and told them I was and asked how much a new lock would be. They wrote me back and asked if I'd like them to put in my combo for me and if the address was correct. I went back to the contact form and wrote them with the combo code and thanked them. Then I got another email from them saying they'd ship the lock out tomorrow. All of this within 20-30 minutes.

I'd probably reach out to them again if I were you.

I don't think I've seen that. It came with the felt tray then? Dealer add-on, I'm thinking. Crazy they riveted it there. Actually, before I speak any more about it, I'm gonna run outside and look at mine.

@OHwendTrd I took a picture of the inside of my console. This is standard (minus the Kleenex):

I thought the kleenex's were for my tears. I won't be able to install my vault without removing them somehow.

I'm guessing a rivet remover and some kind of goop that'll fill in the holes - if you get the full-size safe you won't need to worry about that though. Well, maybe a spot or two.
