It's been awhile but I'm pretty sure the old Kenmores were made by Whirlpool.

Buy the cheapest Maytag that has the capacity you NEED. Then buy the 5 year warranty. After year 5, if it stops working, trash it and repeat.

LG has been good to me for Washer/Dryer specifically (2015 to present no issues, Home Depot black Friday base models). Likely would shy away from them for most other appliances though.

Didn't realize the new ones were trash. That's hard to believe they would let it slip like that.....

I would consider them. My wife doesn’t love them by any means. They are loud in comparison to other machines. We just got tired of replacing front loader seals, circuit boards at 4-600.00, etc.

Been reading review for tons of washer and the new speed queen are not making it much past 5 year warrenty before major repairs. Then the 7 year warrenty covered washer is the consumer report worst rated. product in the washing mach category the lost scoreing washer out of all washer.

Yes they were, or at least many were.

I’m pretty sure mine is 27 years old. Had to replace the pump a few years ago because it wore through and leaked (sand inside the pump might not have helped) and I had to replace the agitator dogs soon after. Parts are common, reasonable, and readily available. If it ever croaks, I’ll probably just try to find another old one.

The residential SQ are not the same as the commercial SQ. You’re right, on the residential side they have had plenty of the issues. They changed some design features around 17 that caused some of issues. I’ve heard they have gone back to the old design now.

Our 2007 Maytag Centennial washer and dryer came with the house and work fine (although I did once have to reattach a balance spring on the washer).
The last thing I want in a washer or dryer is a high-falutin electronic system that is going to get the shit shaken out of it every time the machine gets used, I don't need it having a good old laugh with Alexa or Google over the state of my smalls, I shouldn't need a doctorate to fix the bloody things, all I want them to do get stuff wet, rinse and spin it, the dryer should be even more simple. I really hate the 'throw-away' attitude of manufacturers. Rant over.

Consumer reports rated the tr7000 the worst washer. They redesign the tr series washer in 18 then again 21 just the programming the bugs got fixed and sounds like a pretty spild washer now. They also brought back the classic style tc5003wn is just like to old one back In the day.

    Nice. Glad I didn't buy the TR7...

That was a horrible review. We don't use the economy cycle either on our TR5. Thanks for letting me know.

I know my response is late here but I was able to afford a Maytag washer back in 2014 and since then, its been running great. Got one the those washers that don't have the agitators in the center as it would destroy a lot of my clothing. Plus, I'm able to wash a queen sized comforter with ease. Now for finding parts on other large house-hold appliances, including my Maytag dryer's wiring harness that got fried in my apartment prior to my move into my house....needed to replace it. Sears.com is great for looking up the appliance you have and it will list all of the parts, including the parts number. I've also done this on my Poulan Pro riding mower that is 15+ years old and need the spindles replaced on the twin deck as it sits in my garage. Haven't been in a rush to get to it as I've been using a Craftsman electric mower. If I had known that their blades are not available to purchase in stores (due to manufacturing), I would have gone with the Kobalt but that's a lesson learned. However, a Skil blade will fit but just need to have the hole drill pressed to fit. But the Craftsman stick vacuum was a deal compared to spending over budget for something that I was only going to use just for cleaning up cat litter.

Well, I'm going to eat some crow here, but I like being honest with reviews.

2 years old, looks like the SQ washer is having some issues, and it sounds like a circuit board of some sort. Still barely under warranty.
Dryer is a bit older and the controller to start it is sticking since almost new. Should have claimed it right away. Guess I'll fix that myself.

I’ve been running Electrolux brand washer and dryers. Never had a problem and it’s been going on for five years strong. Mine I’m guessing is what the large capacity with steam. Definitely a brand to check out.

We've got a couple Speed Queen at work. They're fine, I'm not sold on them being the greatest of the great, the Continental-Girbau we have are better machines. Granted they are larger but I run 8 loads a day through them and just had to replace a $50 door switch after 5 years.

Dryers who cares, it's a rolling heater. I just had to replace my 19 year old Amana that cost me $400, could have repaired it but it was over half the cost of a new one.

Considering where we came from automatic appliances are a good thing, regardless of the cost at least we’re not doing handwashing anymore0CA964D4-96F2-427D-8AC1-300994E7C9BB.jpg8B06B961-552F-40B1-9CB3-2EB83472C53A.jpgC5046E73-2F58-461F-8001-8CEC238F134A.jpg0C846038-6F5C-429A-96A0-29E8F5EA948B.jpg

We bought some Samsungs in 2008.

Which is why we bought LG's in 2013, and they're still going strong. With that said, if we end up having any issues, we'll either end up going with Bosch or Speed Queen.

Our LG lasted 6 years or 2.5 kids. When I took it apart for a leak repair, it basically was all eaten inside out by aluminum corrosion. Nothing to fix. If you wash like every day then get the cheapest good brand (LG) and keep it changing every few years.

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
Wife wouldn’t listen to me first time around and we went with GE. POS, 7 years later, after several repairs by me the thing shat the bed. Second time around she listened and we’ve been problem free with a Speed Queen.
