We have come up with a very heavy duty outer tie rod replacement kit. This kit is offered in 3 sizes and will cover the following applications. All applications mount to the top of the spindle except when using factory OE spindles.

Factory OE Replacement with OE spindles including TRD PRO.(bottom mount)
CST & Maxtrac 2wd spindles (top mount)
BDS , ZONE & Procomp lifts. (top mount)
Camburg LT and Zazzulla LT (bottom mount)
    Bulletproof 6"-8" & 10"-12" lifts (top mount)

Kit uses machined 7075 Billet adapter sleeves with a black hard anodized finish.
    7/8" Cryogenically treated Heim joints.
    Stainless steel high misalignment shims.
    Tapered adapter collar (OE kits)

would it be a good choice to replace OEM ones with those ones when lifting truck 2.5 -3" with coilovers or is it overkill ?

it will help for sure. allowing the tie rod to travel more and let the suspension move . I had a set of these for my BDS kit and now i have another set for my new suspension setup and let me tell you they are awesome and David is awesome to work with, you will not be disappointed

We normally take the type of suspension being used into consideration and not just the amount of lift. if you're using a high quality coilover, (Fox,King,Icon,ADS) and or using a UCA you will notice the steering being hung up by the lack of travel. The outer tie rod is the smallest joint and really feels the pull quick. Our Coachbuilder steering kit provides just over 27 degrees of travel compared to 19 degrees from the factory rod ends.

you will run the stock replacement version... you will notice a nice gain in steering feel and move travel as you will not get hung up on the tie rod end

Hey Papasmurf, did these tie rod ends help get you more clearence at full lock on your coil overs of the BDS lift kit?

It's an easy swap but make sure to perform an alignment to correct the toe.

They do the exact opposite. These will rub on your coilovers and chip away at the paint. Mine have been doing that since day one but I don't really care for it. There's some surface rust in the spots where the paint chipped.

I wanted my tierods a little bit longer than the BDS set. I sent David my alignment sheet and he was able to give me what I wanted. Waiting to install at the same time as my coilovers.

Thanks Spvrtan, Thats the most disappointing to me and the BDS lift. Its like they did not do a lot of R&D on this. My install shop added the spacers to the steering stops that came with the kit AND had to build up more to preventing it from hitting. This just makes the turning radius even worse!

Our adapter tubes are a touch larger diameter than the BDS outers and can make contact just as you're describing. Usually if you back off on the castor it increases clearance between the two parts.

Would I need these for my lift I feel it stretches a good amount when steering I'm running maxtrac spindles with icon coilovers. Just not sure if I would need them or if they would work on my lift

Yes, This problem is extremely common with the BDS lift. Our Coachbuilder steering kit increases travel in the toe and will allow full cycle both up and down without fluctuating. Your cost is $399 and will include everything needed for installation. The second pic shows our rubber boot kit, all of our steering kits use the boot.

What wheel size and offset are you running? we just need to be sure we have enough clearance above and around the BDS tie rod.

    Thanks!
    David

I had the same issue with my BDS 4.5" set up. I was frustrated that the tie rods where hitting my coilovers at full lock even after the shim was added to limit them from hitting. After looking at all kinds of lift kits done on Tundras, I had seen that Pro Comp is the only one that had addressed this issue with their outer tie rods by making them with the " off set/dog leg" needed to give the clearance! Get them from 4WP, cost is 90.99. Here is the part#, 90-40231B, Boxed Tie Rod Ends. Hope this helps you, as it did with me!

Thanks for following up. the PC coilovers def use a lower perch and can cause some clearance issues. In most cases we can pull the caster down a touch and this will open up clearance. Do you have a recent alignment print out we can go over? Feel free to call in too if it helps. 801-635-4872 David
