    Guys,

I just got a weird call from one of the dealerships I am haggling with. I told them I what I wanted, and they called me and said that ANY TRD Off-Road or TRD Sport package automatically upgrades the fuel tank to 32 gallon capacity. In other words, if you don't need anything else out of the Convenience package, don't pay for it, because you already get the 32 gallon tank with any off road package on the SR5. Need help confirming or denying this, preferably with owners of 2022+ Tundra SR5 with any Off Road package.

My 23 SR5 TRD OR has the stupidly small 22 gallon/85L tank.
Really wish it had the larger one.
But they are $1200 new for a replacement, so not going to go down that road.
Maybe it is standard now, but mine was built in October with the smaller one.

Can you share the spec sheet? No other packages that mention the fuel tank? Maybe it is standard for CM, but not DC? The mystery continues unfortunately.

My 2022 SR5 TRD Off Road has the bigger tank with no convenience package and it doesn’t mention the tank size on the window sticker.

    edit ~ crewmax 6.5 bed

I don't know if I still have it I would need to scan it if I did. I was surprised that it had it.

Some owners say they only have TRD package and it came with 32 gallon. Some say they have only TRD package and it came with 22. This is confusing. The dealerships are just as divided on this.

Not standard. You MUST have one of the packages that comes with it.

Yes this is very true. There was a time last fall where the 32 gallon tank was hard to find on the SR5 packages. At least in Colorado it was.

Ok, this sets the record straight. Here is the response from Toyota Brand Engagement center at corporate:

at the SR5 level, With a 5.5 bed, the truck has to have an add-on package that includes the big tank. With a CM 6.5 bed, the tank is included.

^^THIS^^ I went down this rabbit hole trying to make sure I had the 32gal tank. In SR5 the CM 5.5’ bed comes standard with 22.5 gal tank so the 32 must be stated as an option. The SR5 CM 6.5’ bed models come with 32gal tank.

edit: original post was wrong edited so people aren’t misinformed.

I don't think this is correct as a blanket statement. Other owners had a different outcome and Toyota corporate is saying that you have to have a package to get the 32 gallon tank.

I want a double cab SR5 w/ 6.5' bed and it is clear by all but one dealership that I have to pay extra to get the larger gas tank.

Maybe some people got lucky by not having to pay, maybe it wasn't documented or something. It's certainly a confusing point.

My bad I never considered the DC as I was looking for CM when I researched it.

This is a good video someone had posted that helped me (I had to hunt down the link). If you start at 1:30 it does a good job explaining it all.

That was an enlightening video. Therefore if I was interested in an SR5 DC 6.5 foot bed, which is the short version, the truck comes with the 22.5 gallon tank. All the options I want is the TRD off-road which doesn’t include the tank upgrade. The SR5 convenience does, but it doesn’t include the off road’s options, like bilstein shocks and skid plates, etc. I can’t seem to opt out for both packages for the same truck, it’s only one package per truck. So what to do? I wonder if I can choose the TRD off-road and just add a bigger tank. I don’t even know if that’s possible and how much? The TRD off-road package is the cheapest at $1440. Anyone have any ideas?

As noted above, my 2023 highly optioned SR5 DC with 6.5 bed has the Advanced Off Road Tech package that cites the 32 gal tank. I feel for you guys with the small one. IMO, Toyota should make the 32 g tank standard across the board. Like many of their other features it is hard to know exactly what you have until you get the truck and live with it for awhile. Otherwise, you'd need to print out that huge feature matrix and go down the list item by item during pre-sale. This is one thing I miss about GM and such. Those guys give you a few trims and it is easy to understand what you have and how you got it. Not so much with Toyota.

Just seen a video comparison on Silverado vs Tundra, they seem to have numerous options and package discrepancies as well.

Unless it has changed GM usually has 3 main trim packages 1Lx, 2Lx, 3Lx with the x being sort of vehicle specific designation, and then a few stand alone options. With the 2 Lx, for instance, you usually get almost everything except for the high end leather and a few other doo dads. And they sometimes have some themed options that combine some stuff.

But nothing like Toyota's complexity like with my highly optioned SR5, where I got the 8-way power seats with lumbar and PVM/MTM mirrors and such... has no seat and mirror memory?? That is just absurd how something like that could be left out of the Advanced Tech package and only be included in a couple of the higher trims. It's like they dumbed it down on purpose and you'd need to have that feature matrix to know.

The silverado has 8 trims, 4 cab configs, 3 different motor selections, that matrix is already looking more confusing the the Tundra. And there are 3 special editions i didn't mention.

TSS is mainly cosmetic, blackout badging, decal on fender, wheels, maybe fancy TSS floor mats...

That's my understanding, I live in the North and TSS is a South Eastern Toyota package, not available in my area. But here's a video:
