I have Pirelli Scorpion AT+ and LOVE them. I will probably buy another set if I don't step up to 35" MTs for my Central/South America trip.

Excellent traction on ice, snow, loose dirt, gravel, wet, and dry. Have not had them in any mud, but that's not really what theyre designed for. I've got almost 20k miles on them since May

    Contemplating whether I should swap out my E-rated 275/65/20 Cooper AT3 XLTs for P-rated 275/60/20 AT3 4S.
After riding on softer Blizzaks so far this winter, I am hesitant to go back to the stiff ride of the XLTs come spring.
The 275/65 XLTs look absolutely perfect. But the ride and mileage suffer.

Those 275/65 Scorpions look and sound great but they are about $500/tire up here.

I bought mine from Amazon actually. Only like $300 each at the time. Looks like they're $430 each at the moment tho

EDIT - Just looked and they're $365ea from Walmart

Got Cooper AT3 4S in 275/60/20 today. Looking good and I'm hoping for better on road and off road than the crappy Wildpeak AT3WA OE tires. Very little experience with them still. PXL_20230204_192415938_edited.jpg PXL_20230204_192342319.jpg

Nice, do they measure out at 33" as per specs?
Would like to hear your thoughts on the ride quality vs the stock tire after you put some miles on them.

Yes almost exactly 33 best as I can measure. So this gives a "free" 1/2 in lift as the crappy AT3WA measures 32 diameter. I really measured a 5/8 lift, not sure where the extra 1/8 came from but that's so minor it doesn't matter.
Tire rack only complaint of these Cooper's is that they don't absorb large bumps on the highway well. Still have not tried out highway with them.... won't seek out large bumps though.
I should add that I know these Cooper's are not really cool looking or as serious off road as several of the other tires are that I see on this forum. I choose these trying to stay conservative with the mpg hit of larger and heavier tires and also retaining good highway stability in wet. I know others have said they don't have a problem with some of the more aggressive tires, that's good to hear. But tire rack review (and other tire comparison reviews) and my casual understanding of tire tread pattern in wet conditions drove me to stay conservative. It's just my opinion.

I know the Cooper's weren't your first choice but hopefully you'll like them or you can exchange them for something else if they don't match your needs.

These Coopers seem to have a slight pull (to the right). It's subtle and took me a while to decide that it's real rather than just due to crown in the roadway and side winds. Taking it back to my tire dealer this week. I had this problem a couple of times with new tires over the decades. In those cases just swapped front left/right and it went away and didn't seem to come back with rotations as the miles went on. Hoping for the same here. I had somewhat reluctantly chosen Coopers over the Falkens since I've had bad experience with Coopers many years ago. Sure hope this isn't a deal breaker for me....again.

Wonder if any other Cooper owners finding a steering pull?

I just picked up some Milestar Patagonia A/T R 275/65/20, haven’t seen any one running these yet so thought I’d give a try.
Will report back after install and some mileage.

    Gotcha
Gotcha, I was looking more for the size this time and on sale for $155/ea so couldn’t pass.

I think the pirelli scorpion at plus mentioned here are the only 116h lightweights at 275/65 but $400ish. If will keep those on my radar for sales.

Just put on Falken Rubitrek 275/65/20. Have a RC 2” leveling kit. Plenty of room and these things are pretty quiet.

When I went to my local tire shop a few months ago they had the Falken Rubitrek's that someone else ordered but decided not to take. I debated between those, the Falken AT3 and Cooper AT 4S, ended up with the Coopers. Wonder why you chose the Rubitreks and how you like them? Those were my second choice as I thought the Falken AT3 would be noisy on the highway and I didn't like that they don't have as good of what I call straight line grooves to shed water. But the Rubitreks looked intriguing, I was spooked wondering why the original person backed out on them.

I first looked at them based on a recommendation from my father-in-law who lives in Colorado. He has them on his Tacoma and likes them better than the AT3 (which my brother-in-law has on his TRD Sequoia also in CO) for highway driving because they are quieter. I debated between these and the Recon Grappler since I don't really need the 3 peak rating except when we go visit since I'm in Texas. So far I'm very happy with them. Very quiet and the ride feels more solid than the OEM tires. The shop that did it said they mostly sell Grapplers or AT3 so he was intrigued as well because he's never seen them, but on the test drive after everything he even commented about how quiet they were. I looked at the Coopers for a second, but for these it honestly came down to a more aggressive look.

Interesting. Thanks for the thoughts. yea, the Coopers do lack on the looks category and at times I've regretted not getting either of the Falkens. But I too find the Coopers about 10000% better than the OEMs, so what's to complain about that. From what I've read, all three of these (Falken AT3, Rubitrek and Cooper AT3 4S) have the same construction specs, as in number and type of belts on tread and sidewall. They really only differ in the tread rubber pattern and looks, and resulting noise, traction under some conditions and cosmetics. For highway either the Rubitrek or Coopers should be the better two of these three.

I asked him about balancing too and he said they balanced easy with not too much weight. He said the Nitto's from his experience are the best from a balancing standpoint to where sometimes he doesn't have to add anything. I think the front he said he added 0.5 oz and 1 oz on the front tires and then 3-4 oz on the back. Very happy with these but might go with Recons next time once these wear out just to compare.

    Sounds like a plan.

I have not found what I consider the perfect tire: Low noise, good highway and decent off road (no mud) and just as important is not crazy heavy weight. The three we talked about are in the mid 40 pound range, but going to an E rating for the better off road goes to low/mid 50's pounds. That is nearly 15 pounds above OEM and from other threads it seems people are suffering what I consider unacceptable MPG hit. I'd like a P rating with better off road and weight around 46-48 pounds in our size.

Yep that's why I was considering the Recons because they have both a P-metric and LT. If I went Recon I was going to get the P-metric to keep the weight down and for potentially better ride quality. The MPG hit to me isn't a real as perceived because you're actually going further than the truck calculates with the increased tire size. My drive in this morning I had 18.5 calculated when I normally get around 19. City driving might take a bigger hit because of the more stop and go, but half my drive is stop signs and lights and half highway so I don't think it's an issue so far. Time will tell.

I did not know that about the Recons. I'll check them out on TireRack, but too late for the current purchase as I only have 3k on the Coopers. That is true, the truck calculated MPG does have to be slightly adjusted with larger diameter. I see that you went with the 65 profile rather than OEM 60. That is good too as I think that will be better ride.

We have Coopers in some of our units, they balance beautifully!! love the ride!
Although I went with the Wildpeaks, I’m very impressed with the Coopers, a little more noisy, but very minimal.

They just fitted anither unit with some Americus, those thing are horrible!! They balance awful!
