This really sounds like a dealer to stay away from.

I think “limited” if you read the fine print clarifies wearable parts like tires, brake pads, belts, wiper blades and similar items are not covered under warranty. Or abuse and misuse. If we have too much fun and get all four tires off the ground and bend something we get to own that. Which makes sense to me. I sometimes feel like our culture stopped teaching personal responsibility and accountability. We have coddled several generations and taught self is what matters. That was probably too deep.

    Too many, but not enough....
My dealer did that to me for some weather stripping. Literally told him to fuck himself and caused such a scene that the owner came out and told him my family will no longer buy from them after 40 years of business.

I sat there and left a horrible review on every platform I could think of. I wouldn't even let them pull my car out of the shop. Told them I would call the cops if they touched my car. I pulled it out myself and left to a different dealer which didn't even mention an upfront payment to diagnose. I was just beyond myself with anger.

It can also be used to exclude AC components from being covered under warranty due to excessive use or strain in harsh climates like here in Phoenix, or so it was put to me as they were trying to sell me an extended warranty, I honestly wouldn’t put it past them if a compressor failed within the warranty period, I hope to not find out

If someone lies to you in an effort to manipulate you and get what they want, a commission, that is separate from the warranty. Hold them accountable with truth and facts or take your business down the road. Every time we buy a vehicle from dealers like that we tell them to do it to us and others again. Negative reviews help but money is the ultimate motivator of change for business. Sorry someone tried to manipulate you, it really gets me cranked when I hear stories like this.

Personally I think it’s funny when the finance guys talk their shit to get people to buy all the extra packages and warranties, but it boils down to the people in service when it comes to a warranty repair and how they handle the situation.

In 2010 I bought a Tacoma and a Highlander for my wife from Autonation Toyota in CO. The finance guy talked me into the 60,000 mile service plan on both after haggling down the price. He showed me where the 30,000 service on my Tacoma is more than what I would be paying. Made sense to me.
The Tacoma at 30,000 required plug change. Long story shorter, I caught the dealer trying to lie to me and screw me. They told me I had the engine that “doesn’t require plug changes” I’m not the type to take shit. I persisted, went everywhere legally I could and my plugs were finally changed.
The service manager finally told me,
“Brad, you have to understand, I can’t do the 30,000 mile service for what the finance guy sold this at. I will lose money.”

Your point is 100 percent spot on and is something owners should be aware of when sitting with the finance thieves.

Ya it’s painful at dealerships, our 2022 trailer plug is fubard the left trailer light has constant power, we took it in they tried to tell us “nothing wrong it’s your trailer” Um I have several trailers tried same on all, do you not have a trailer plug tester? Tried to charge me 1.5 hours labour. I asked the service manager “if I go buy a plug tester come back and show you it’s not working and I’m right how about you give me a credit equal to the bogus charge your incompetent techs can’t figure out hows that sound?” He looked at me like I’m nuts….

then on top they wanted me to talk with the salesman who sold us the truck, I said wth do I want to do that for? Piss off and service and fix my truck.

Sounds like we need to start a "Stealerships/Dealerships to Avoid" thread ;)

Is the problem with your 7 pin connector or the 4 pin? I notice that the entire socket is loose on my truck and moves around. Sounds like the constant 12V is crossed with your turn signal. Does the truck Left turn signal stay on solid when the trailer is connected.

One thing I noticed is that my truck doesn't like it when I plug and unplug while the truck is running. I think it is trying to figure out the software.

I have gotten into the habit of shutting off the truck while dealing with the trailer plug. Canadian tire sells a unit that plugs into the truck socket to test each function.
This tester looks pretty nice but pricy: https://www.etrailer.com/Accessories-and-Parts/CURT/C51498.html

Good that you did do that, time to stop trying to bleed customers dry. Want to stay in business, make customers happy.

There's ripping off, which I get, then there's being an absolute asshole and not even trying to hide it. I was beyond livid.

Thanks for the input, I’m way past the basics, worked then didn’t work interweb would tell me there’s a relay cooked somewhere given warranty I thought I’d let dealer figure out but as we all know if there’s no “code” or it’s remove replace they have a low probability to figure out.
