I interested to see all the changeable options in Techstream. Did you ever take any pictures?

Did you have any luck with the bootleg Techstream option? I'm thinking of going the same route...

It's still sitting in the package it shipped in on my workbench. The screen of the laptop I was going to use decided to die, so getting it up and running is going to require an additional monitor and I have other priorities right now, than digging other old electronics out of basement closets.

    This.

No reason the alert couldn't be configured to activate only when 25+ mph is exceeded.

This would be the best of both worlds IMO, or even a lower speed if the law allows.

It took me a good day to find the right version that'll work with the gen 3 and get it set up. It was a bit frustrating but it's kinda nice to get rid of the seatbelt chime and the fake engine noise.

Anyone have the Carista adapter lying around? Let’s set up a plan with a small rental fee for a “ship and share” then send to the next forum member.

On Saturdays I take my 80 pound dog 2 miles in my truck to the hiking trail. He is always in the front passenger seat. I purchased a seatbelt clip from Amazon and keep it in the passenger seat belt buckle until I have a human passenger, then just toss it on the console. it works for me.
fyi - I take my road-risk riding my motorcycle, I'm not going to tease the Gods anymore by not using a seatbelt.

Nice idea but I like having my OBD II adapter on hand.

I agree. So far, this is the one thing I like better about the Ford I had. I am a believer in seat belts, and always wear them. However I don't feel I need it on while on my property at walking speed. I disabled it on my Ford, and didn't wear it while plowing on my property.

wait until you open the door trying to eyeball the ground and try to move the vehicle at the same time.

that is going to piss people off a lot.

You talking about trying to back a trailer a little closer or the boat a little further into the boat ramp?....You open the door to measure your distance and BAM!!! the emergency break engages! MF thing!

    ■Drive-Start Control (DSC)

When the TRAC is turned off (P.391), sudden start restraint control also does not operate. If your vehicle have trouble escaping from the mud or fresh snow due to sudden start restraint operation, deactivate TRAC (P.391) so that the vehicle may become able to escape from the mud or fresh snow. Also, sudden start restraint control will not operate in the following conditions:

●When the front-wheel drive control switch is in “4H” or “4L” position.(4WD models only)
●When AUTO LSD mode, the drive start control does not operate. (if equipped)
●When Multi-terrain Select is selected. (if equipped)

I have the PKSB system (car with safety cone and star button) turned off 24x7 since the truck barely fits in garage and I have to back in. This setting does carry over between drives (unlike disabling auto stop/start). It will still slam on the e-brake if you try to drive forward with the door open. Not sure about reverse though, can’t recall if I’ve tried that.

I just went in for my 6 month service at 5,110 miles. The techs at Midlands Toyota in Columbia, SC lied to my face and said that there is no way to disable and that they can’t. After arguing back and forth for a few minutes, I had to give up. Worthless dealership. I’m really mostly upset that they lied to me. It would be one thing for them just to say we won’t do it, but they had to lie with the “our master tech said no dealership can do it.”

I found that when backing with door open. Once the park brake sets itself, depress the brake pedal then release the park brake with the park switch. Then I have found it will keep the park brake released, but beeper will sound while backing with door open. Another way to back up with door open is having drivers seat belt latched.

As for the original post about disabling the seat belt reminder chime. I found that the Snap On Solus scantool will disable it as well. Accessing the instrument cluster ECU data stream.

I’m curious what you guys are doing that you need to open the door to back up?

I’ve never done that, so just wondering, can’t you use the mirrors and cameras?

For me it’s not about looking out the door, it’s about being outside the truck, needing to move back a few feet (for whatever reason), and not wanting to have to close the door to back up then immediately reopen it. An example would be coming back from the store, stuff is in the bed (I have to back into my garage), and want to stop mostly into the garage and open tailgate and unload, then need to close tailgate and move a few feet back to park.
