Paul. The rail seems to be a perfect fit, front to back. I did add a small piece of foam between truck bed and tailgate. Sure, I will need to do a more permanent fix. No leaks so far.

I hope this doesn't come off as a bit dumb.....it's my first truck in quite some time.

Has anyone found a way to attach something/anything that can carry a mountain bike above the cover without drilling?
I have a rack for the hitch, but would love to not have something like that having off the back.

Go through this long ass thread. There are some great covers with rack mounting options.

Oem tonneau, side steps, spray in liner. Trd skidplate.

Yes, folds against rear window with supports. Flush to the rails?

A couple of tonneau mfgs make tonneau covers that have rail systems to accept popular rack systems like Thule and such. The racks slide into slots in the rails and allow you to carry ladders, bikes, kayaks or whatever above the cover, depending on the height and types of the racks you install. I guess you could even have a couple of sets for different purposes... slide them on when you need them. Pace Edwards UltraGroove models have that feature. I believe some others like Retrax also make similar.

If you are looking for a different cover than the retractable, try https://truxedo.com/ they have Elevate bars to go with their covers.

Anyone have experience with the roll-n-lock A-series? I like the fact that it retracts as opposed to folding. The only thing I'm a little hesitant about is the strap that needs to be connected to the corner near the tailgate which allows you to close/pull back the cover. I'm guessing when you have the cover open and have "stuff" in the bed, this strap can be a PIA.

Looking for a roll up bed cover, something like the Retrax MX one, auto retraction, not powered. Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks

Edit: a hard cover retractable not a soft cover roll up

That's not per-say a roll-up, it's retractable. Bak X4s or Truxedo Sentry CT are hard roll ups vs Gator and other are soft rollups.

I had a Pace Edwards Jackrabbit for the last 4 or 5 years on my Tacoma and I loved it. The cheaper vinyl bonded over aluminum model, not the full metal aluminum model. Not too difficult to install and mostly dry except a bit around the tailgate. I liked having the external lock so it could be opened without lowering the tailgate. I just sold that truck yesterday and the buyer really liked the cover which is still in great shape.

My Tundra came with the Toyota folder and I am thinking about selling that and getting another retract. The Pace Edwards Ultragroove with the tracks for the crossbars and racks doesn't have an external lock. And I have no experience with Retrax in order to compare its function and dryness. So I am up in the air. I am leaning towards going with what I know, a Pace Edwards cover, either the Ultragroove metal or the full metal Jackrabbit without the tracks. The more expensive aluminum models are stronger, but then maybe susceptible to getting dented. So there is also that tradeoff to consider. No rush in my case. I can use the folder until I decide.

The Truxedo Elevate T-Slot accessory rails are actually compatible with a few different roll up covers, and potentially some tri-folds. Its one of the reasons I went with the Bakflip X4S. I installed the X4S a few days ago and really like it so far, but do not have the Elevate rails yet, nor any T-Slot bars/racks to add. I just wanted the option down the road if and when its needed.

Many retracts have a strap like that. The Pace Edwards I had on my Tacoma has one and this strap is also what operates the latch mechanism to snap it from the free position to where it will latch on the sequential stops as you pull the cover forward. The instructions call for placing a Velcro tab in the driver's rear corner to secure the end to but in practice I usually just left the strap loose... and we all know that Velcro isn't forever, anyway. The only times the strap gets to be a PITA is when you are loading stuff. You need to make sure the strap is up and out of the way or it can get caught up and then you have to pull it free, or perhaps move something to get it out. But once you've used it for awhile this is no big deal.

Any idea if Rough Country will be making a hard tri-fold for the 6.5ft bed?

Also, can someone confirm for me the part number on the Toyota hard tri-fold tonneau for the 6.5ft bed also?

    Thanks!

I messaged RC a few days ago and they said the 6.5 is coming out very very soon and the price will be about the same as the 5.5

Thanks brother! I guess I will give it a little wait then and see, worth the savings, they at least appear to be pretty much the exact same thing as the Toyota.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
If your looking for a soft roll cover that is under $500 bucks I recommend
    Tyger Automotive.

For my 6.5 bed it was $250. As inventory fluctuates the price has gone up to as much as $375. You can purchase from the manufacturer or Amazon.

    None, yet
If there's a better place for this question, please let me know...

For the roof top tent setups . . . Is the weight limit on the T-rail system on the tonneau cover that holds the rack, the rack itself, or the tent? Or, is it all of the above?

Anyone looking for a sturdy yet easily removable cover, SmartTop It's coming out with a lineup stateside here soon. Hopefully the new Tundra is included. Cool features you can load heavy equipment or machinery on top and still be able to open it (As long as everything on top is strapped down)

I recently installed the retrax pro XR. It seems to be high quality and was easy to install. I ran it through the automatic car wash yesterday and only a small amount of water came in. For comparison, I previously had a flip type cover on my old truck and I think I’ll like the retrax a lot better. I purchased the cover through Santana through real truck. She answered my questions and gave me a nice discount. I’d reach out to her if I was ordering.

I have analysis paralysis so I just ordered a Bakflip MX4 to be done with it. If it's good enough for Toyota it's probably pretty good. Or they just got the best price ;)

LOL, yea....you may want to re-evaluate that stance on the "new" Toyota brand.
