Installed the Coachbuilder +2 Shackles today. Install was very straightforward. Had a little assistance with our battery operated homatro spreader (perks of being a fireman.. kickass tools!) which helped loads in being able to position the leaf spring in just the right spot. Didn’t even have to unbolt the shock. Bushings were tough but came right out with the ball joint press. I’ll take some pics of it sitting on level ground tomorrow. Definitely added some height to the rear.

SO STOKED for this mod! Finally scored a driver’s side A pillar handle. Got it from a Rancho Cordova wrecking yard for $75.

Fun day of cutting and hauling firewood on my friend’s ranch. Sandra may be pretty but she still has to do her part!

Annual Christmas tree run up to Hull Mountain. Scored a nice one this year! Sandra did great in the snow. Aired down to 20 and she crawled right along…

Finally got around to doing the bumper caps and fog light swap. Got it all torn apart today and the bumper caps wrapped. Gonna put it all back together tomorrow.

It's good to see that there's still some trees left unburnt on the MNF.

Yeah not many...:( Its pretty decimated. Still a handful of silver tips up near the peak of Hull Mt... but I almost feel bad taking the trees that are left. We've been coming up here for decades but I think we might need to choose a different forest next year. I started looking into Plumas and Tahoe this year but with all this early snow it limits the options of which trails are still open.

Ok it’s official!!! No mo chrome! Got the bumper caps wrapped in APA vinyl (color is Desert storm) and swapped in the Diode Dynamics Elite fog lights. Not terribly hard to take it all apart and get it all back together, just time consuming. I tapped into the purple wire on my side marker lights for 12v power to the backlights. Another note on the DD fogs. They fit pretty loose in the buckets, and on my truck (2017) it only has one screw holding it in. So I added a few little strips of rubber that I had laying around to help take up some of the play in the mount, and now they’re solid.

Added a set of Max Liner floor covers in front and rear… I got a screamin deal on them used and I’m stoked on how they fit. I trimmed a bit off the edge by the doors and tucked them under the plastic rocker molding.

In other less exciting news, I think I have the dreaded alternator bearing failure whine… it started a few weeks ago and it’s getting progressively louder. I put a stethoscope on it today and it’s definitely the alternator. Still charging great, but it sounds awful. Ordered a new alt today… NOT looking forward to tackling this job. Just under 40k miles too. Not thrilled. In the research I’ve done I’ve seen an exceptionally high number of 2017’s reporting the same issue. Have to think it’s not just a coincidence. Perhaps somebody in the alternator bearing factory was having a bad day back in 17…

Just read through your thread...truck looks great. Did you wrap the front bumper caps yourself? If so, how hard was it? Debating doing my rear bumper caps but have never wrapped anything in my life.

Thank you! No I had them wrapped by a shop in Santa Rosa. I had full intentions of doing it myself, but when I finally got the caps pulled off and cleaned up I looked at all the contours and lines of them and I chickened out. The shop knocked em out in 5 hours and they look perfect. But, don’t let my fear of the wrap influence you! I’m sure it can be done!! Just grab a heat gun and some water spray and go for it!

I'm with you...will likely end up paying a shop to do it. I tried to do an amber lense wrap years ago and failed miserably. Probably better to save myself from wasting a bunch of perfectly good vinyl wrap material...

Tackled the big alternator job today. Gotta fresh one off LKQ for $120 with 2 year warranty. Came off a 2016 with 24k miles.
The job sucked ass. It’s a total pain to get to the alt, gotta remove the ps pump, which is the worst part. Overall a total pain in the ass. I knocked it out in about 3.5 hours and 2 beers.

Got the reverse light installed today. Baja Designs Squadron Pro. Went with the cyclops mounting option, simple switch on the console. I may upgrade to a switch bank later on if I add more items of flair…
