Too many Catalytic Converter theft news!!!

I saw the news that catalytic Conv. Theft issue are all around country's one of biggest problems.
Next day My friend told me he got stolen 4 of his 2.5 Gen. Tundra Cats. He has Security Cam. He. Checked and got video. There were one or two guys came and got all four cats in 4 mins and left.
By the way, He lives in very safe area of town. It is not matter where u live these days.
He spended almost 4k to fix. I feel so bad and it never go away in my head. Maybe I might be next victim who knows??
Any idea to prevent these bad guys.

Never heard of any issues around here, although I do realize it is a problem elsewhere.

 

Welcome from LA (Lower Alabama)! I considered this an issue that people in other parts of the country had to deal with - until a news report of a bust with a bunch of stolen cats. I ordered my Valhalla plates the next day.

 

Cat plates. I need to get one too. Waiting to get the RCI full skid package for my 2022, but they taking a little longer to release it. Problems with a new design vehicle. Scared one day I come out of work with cats missing.

Just had a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander at my job had its catalytic converter stolen. Vehicle was parked in a parking lot full of fleet cars. Same place I park my truck. They usually do it overnight tho. We do have camera but they just wear facemask and take plates off their cars. Catalytic converter had to be ordered from Japan and parts telling me it’ll be arrive late July for the mistubishi. Can’t imagine how long for a 2022 tundra.

 

In Houston cat theft is rampant. One of my friends that works at the post office said 10 of the mail trucks got their cats stolen just last week and they siphoned the gas on some of them too. My father got his cats stolen from a parking lot in broad daylight at 3 pm. I'm genuinely concerned anytime I take the truck out now because it's so bad people are in and out within minutes and it doesn't matter what time of day.

 

They came to the school parking lot in the middle of the day and tried too....nowhere is safe

This is exactly why I installed one- the amount of time I’ll be waiting for replacements

CCM getcatsecurity.com has them in stock. I ordered it yesterday it shipped the same day and will be at my door Wednesday. California to New Jersey.

 

@Taco tunes cat shield. 10 minute install. But I’m a diesel mechanic. 30 minute to the not so mechanically inclined.

 

What a good solution. My coworker got his stolen off his Tundra a month ago in Phoenix, AZ

 

I got my Valhalla plates installed last weekend and I sleep easier. At least now they’ll hopefully move on to the next one.

DIY 3/8" expanded metal plate here, great ventilation, low cost (recycled material), no mud build up, easy undercarriage inspection of critical components. Gas tank is getting 3/16" plate soon as well.

 

I got too concerned and decided to buy a shield 2 days ago. I saw that Talon has a sale on their metal shields because of imperfections from their current powdercoating process.

I hope this metal shield won't give me problems with overheating within the area it protects. I did have a 4Runner Trail(offroad) that had metal protection plates and I didn't have overheating issues with that truck so I took a chance. We'll see after a few days/weeks.

I installed the T-Tunes several months ago. Install was quick and easy as it came with security bolts and all. Heck my beer didn’t even grave a chance to get warm by the time I cleaned up the tools.
