Computer mpg. The tires are only slightly bigger than stock so I don’t expect it has a huge difference due to size, but I am sure weight had a big impact. I should have written down the gallons each fill up, but didn’t so have no idea how far off it may be from actual mileage.

I realize now I stated the wrong size tire. I put on 275/70R18. I changed it above as well.

Give it a while. When it breaks in a bit I bet you see much better mileage.

I had the same experience with my F150. Drove from MA to Utah when the truck was a month and a half old/1200 miles and averaged 13 or something ridiculous. After 5000 or so miles the truck really loosened up. Now I have to work to be below 15.5 on 315/70R17 KO2’s.

Also, winter will probably drop your mileage by 10%. My truck would drop from 18.5 average to 17 like clockwork every fall, and come back in the spring. I dont know what it is but the cold just pisses it off.

Im in Katy too, small world. Awesome truck man. Did you have any issues fitting the winch with the bumper? There was a guy on the fb page with the cbi bumper who had problems. I know yours is LilB, just wondering.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
Winter blend fuel, plus colder denser air to push out of the way and combust. Your truck probably makes more power in the cold air, but to balance the air fuel ratio will want to run a bit more fuel.

People really ought to educate themselves before posting their new MPG number after changing to larger tires. A special thanks to all of you who have posted in detail regarding the tire size, etc. AND if you are accounting for the larger diameter!

@romanlegion - Thanks for being specific

180 mile drive today. Two lane highway most of the way at roughly 65mpg. Limited 4x4 with 6.5 foot bed. Stock truck with no changes other than cosmetics. I can’t be happier with the truck and lineage Usually average 19.5 to 20 without babying it 9CA35736-2573-473D-B303-D00D082CDD29.jpg

Eastern Canada here. Running stock 265/70/18 Michelin LTX on a 2022 Crew max SR5 Offroad 6.5' bed I was getting 12 L/100km (19.6mpg) all summer with mostly in city driving.
Changed my tires to load E general grabber Arctic in same size two weeks ago and am currently getting 15 L.100km (15.6mpg) for the same drving. Obviosuly tire weight and cold weather play a huge factor in fuel economy.

    Last Trip: 310.6 miles
Fueled up today: 20.4 gallons of 87
Avg - 15.2 MPG. Tundras avg mpg screen gave me the exact readings.

80 percent of this is around town driving with speeds less than 40mph usually.

I know my first service is at 5000 miles, but I will be changing out the oil at 1k before pushing it. I switched to normal driving mode for this tank of fuel to see what it can do.

Has anyone had any better results with eco mode? I usually only use it on the highway, as I feel it accelerates less aggressively when using cruise control.

I got 25 mpg in eco mode on the highway the other day at around 60-65 mph. I only use ECO IN Cruise control, otherwise I really don’t like it. In town driving it helps to have quick response. I have SR5 TRD off road so only 3 pavement modes.

Not sure how you’re getting above 20mpg either!

My non hybrid 2022 has about 1300 miles on it. I swapped to 275/70/18 SL tires and weather is around 32F now. I can get 18-19 on highway driving but only 15-17 around town (hand calculated, adjusting ~1.8% for the tires). I leave it in eco mode and avoid braking as much as possible

hoping it improves as it continues to break in

I got my 23 Platinum hybrid a couple of days before making a semi-regular trip to Dallas. I made it 160 more miles on the 32 gallon tank than I did with my 17 or 21 with the 38 gallon tank.
I think the truck is showing a little over 15 mpg after about 1200 miles of driving. My 21 was showing around 11. I have a pretty heavy foot and also spend quite a bit of time sitting in the truck with it running.
I’ve only had to fill up once a week so far not counting the Dallas trip. Used to be 2-3 times a week on my previous Tundras.

I have a 2022 Limited TRD Offroad with LEER topper. 5000 miles on the truck. 15 mpg in city driving. 18.9 mpg at 78 mph. 22 mpg at 68 mph. 25 mpg at 55 mph. It’s about 50% better mileage than the truck it replaced - my 2005 Tundra Limited 4x4 Crew cab. I wish the V8 was still available, but the engine is POTENT, and so far I’m really impressed with the truck. (Except for the persistent door chime and auto start-stop features which I despise).

    None. Just bought.
I have 2700 miles on my Limited 4x4 OR 5.5’ bed. Drove 210.2 miles today which was around 90 mi each way, 1 stop down, 2 stops back, then 2 more errand stops before getting gas. Mostly highway at 70-75 (a bit at 80) and some stop and go local stuff. Overall was 21 mpg even. No bad but lookin for better as it breaks in more.

Really not hard to break 20 on the highway. I personally think that’s quite acceptable for the size of these things.

I notice that just the slightest change in driving habits takes my commute from a 16-17 mpg to a 20-21 mpg. Easing into the accelerator to have the electric motor assist on the start and hold steady speeds on the hwy make a huge difference. Speed matters too of course(but I was using the same speeds on my tests) and winter fuel/cold air hurt mileage now, but the difference on the Trip summary when you shut off the engine is quite stark for such little change.

I'll have to try the prior suggestions. I've been playing with the sport mode, on my hybrid TRD OR 1794 - and it seems to assist too in boosting the mileage when doing around town driving, once on highway or higher speeds around town, I switch to normal.

Yeah, I was a little surprised myself, and like you wouldn't have guessed it - my thinking would be, that the turbos are set to spin or spinning, and shift points/rpms are elevated... I saw this on a youtube video from a guy that had tried it out - I think he's at a dealership - and has had his own 3rd Gen for about 10 months or more now with 12,000 or so miles on it he said. So, my testing is limited so far, just for the past week that I've noticed it increasing my average mpg - which is interesting. Also, I'm trying to do the takeoffs with less weight on the pedal and letting the electric stay engaged as much as I can - so probably a combination of the 2 methods contributing to things. My around town avg seems to be about 16.5 at this point... so, would like to get that up closer to 20 if I can. I don't know, maybe I should be in eco at the higher speeds/cruising?

Last Friday I did a quik trip from metro Detroit to Tennessee. Ran cruise, always set to 4 mph above speed limit. A little above that at times. Avg 22.4 mpg. This in a 2023 SR5 4X4. I was happy.

I have a 40 mile commute on country roads, 65mph normally then maybe 10 miles of it in town traffic and street lights. No long trips yet but averaging 18.5 so Im pretty happy with that.

yes, get to speed, hit cruise, switch to Eco. Only place that setting is worth anything.

So, I'm almost to 2,000 miles - and this weekend, went on some longer rides around town, with lights and stop signs, etc. But, as the weekend has progressed, my mileage has been climbing on the on board computer. Still on the same tank - so when it's done, I'll do the calucation by hand. Saturday night, we went out about an hour or so from home, and by the time I got home, the avg mpg was up to 18. Today, I went to another location, another hour away, when I got home, my avg mileage is now 19 mpg. This is on roads around us, with all the normal lights/stop lights. Also, at one point today, I was doing 70-75 mph for an extended period - all while in "normal" mode. Also, one thing I noticed, is I can get higher mpg, if I don't use adaptive cruise control - though I do like that. If the vehicle ahead of me is changing speed all over the place... the truck will try to keep that distance while it's less than the speed the truck was originally set at. I'm hoping this trend continues with the increases in mpg!

    What’s wrong with stock?
I have a 22 SR5 TRD OR and can’t get over 14.4 mpg. I drive about 10 miles each way to work and baby it in eco mode. This is on back roads in Miami so there is traffic. Average 30 minutes to drive 10 miles. I now have 2700 miles and hope it just needs to break-in some more.

Just hit 500 miles on my Capstone. Through the mountains from Pittsburgh to Hampton Roads VA in cold windy weather and 34psi tires, mostly highway at 80mph, and managed mid-18mpg range. In traffic it crept up to 21mpg around DC, but I was going 80-90 after that and brought it back down again.

These colder temps hurt fuel mileage on these trucks.

My best single drive was a 30 mile trip of 50/50 highway and city for 26.7mpg. second best was a 75% highway trip between Woodbridge and Richmond VA for 24mpg. Short around town trips I'm still averaging over 21mpg. If you're getting below 18mpg with a Hybrid, it's not the truck, it's the driver.
