So I have decided to start a thread in regards to relocating the TSS and figuring out how to fix errors. I just installed the 14-17 Pro grill with the "B" part number AJT relocation bracket. Everything was working fine until the 35 mile mark when I got a "Clean sensor" error going up a bridge. As we all know, the AJT has been hit and miss across the board, and some speculate that it could be due to the thickness of the cover. To a point, this doesn't make sense because a few have put the sensor at the bottom of the surround without any issues. So a couple of ideas that I came up with....

    1) Make a thinner cover out of polycarbonate/plexiglass

    2) Remove the cover and see what happens

    3) Drill a hole and lower the AJT to center it in the openings (thinking the cross bar may be affecting it). It would have to be spaced forward a little due to the curvature of the support at the bottom

    4) Temp install the sensor to the back of the grill at the bottom opening.

I think you should try all of those options......from my experience with the sensor the relocation tricks did not help it. I was always under the impression that the thickness of the front cover was the culprit but that was pure speculation on my part. I had the AJT and tried the following:
    1. moved sensor down the support bar and zip tied in place.
    2. Re-installed to original mounting location after a few failed mounting points in step 1. Then paid $200+ dollars to get sensor recalibrated, which did not work.
    3. Lucked into the last run of Jomax and haven't had an issue since that install.

I actually think the better option would be to see if there was a way someone could fabricate a copy of the jomax on a 3d printer or sheet metal fabrication shop. The AJT never worked for me and caused a lot of frustration. I like their products a lot (have MANY in my truck) but this product is a miss in my opinion. The problem I had with removing the front plate and that the sensor is rumored to be pretty fragile and its expensive. So I didn't want to risk a rock or something hitting it. Just my .02.

Thanks for the inputs. I did email Jomax to see if they could provide any insight but I haven't heard back yet. I'm wondering if making a cover out of the sheet metal would do the trick. Worst case scenario is it's a 50/50 shot.

If history is any indicator, JOMAX will not entertain the thought of another production run or answer any questions relating to this product. Many on this forum and others have asked. I am not sure if it was something that got them into legal trouble; I heard a rumor a ways back that people who used the relocation brackets claimed it made the vehicle unsafe because the PCS wasn't reliable. Not sure if they ever actually got sued but can imagine it was much more trouble than it was worth for a product that didn't make them rich. Thats why AJT has all of the disclosures before you purchase.

I remember one forum member talking about trying to thin out the front plate with a planer but don't recall if they actually did it or if it worked.

I also think metal would set off the PCS system. Pretty sure that's why all of the covers from any generation are made of some form of plastic.

This thread will give you close up pictures and more information.

Makes sense. What is the Jomax cover made out of? I thought it was metal but could be wrong.

I believe it is a thin plastic of some sort. There are plastic spacer washers if I recall correctly. You can see them in the thread linked

Thanks. I think I may start with making a thinner cover and see what happens. I'm not sure if anyone has tried it yet.

Like I said, good luck. I have promised myself that I will remove the Jomax bracket if I ever get rid of this truck and karma it to a forum member.

I didn't get a good vibe as to customer service, but at least they did reply.

Their customer service was great when I dealt with them; I can actually understand them not wanting to disclose proprietary information that could potentially be used against them in such a litigious society. I think you’re on the right track if you can try to find a thinner faceplate and maybe get some measurements on where the jomax sits vs the ajt.

I have a spare Jomax that I might sell (I keep it around in case my other bracket fails). When I bought it I also bought a few extra covers. I'll look tonight, I would ship a spare cover to you for free.

Has anyone tried modifying the AJT relocation bracket yet? I think im going to try replacing the front cover with some really thin plexiglass. Also, if anyone has a jomax for sale, id be interested.
