Should be fine. I'm not running the TRD s/c intercooler, which blocks more of the radiator than this intercooler does. Time will tell!

    @Genuine Cooling Systems

Quick question, when checking the transmission level, does the trucks FRAME or the TRANSMISSION, need to be perfectly level?

I’ve got a magnetized level and wasn’t sure if it’s the frame or trans that I’m checking when doing the fluid level check?

I noticed that if the trans is level, the frame is not, and vice versa obviously

When the truck is on a lift being serviced, the frame would be level. I bet either is good enough.

I just put the level on the pan myself.
I believe he was asking about the kit that could add a second cooler to a truck that came with the one seeing as he has a 2016. It was an option on his old site but it seems he re-did things and hasnt been active on the forum much lately. I'm sure he still could seeing as that kit actually didnt use any Toyota parts, just the cooler, bracket and lines to the existing one.

@Spyker if I recall correctly, the first time I did the transmission fluid check, I checked level on the bottom of the frame rail near the transmission and the pan itself, finding they were both about the same. I check right-left level on the pan. When I did the fluid drain and fill service, I just checked the pan.

In regards to the two different transmissions, AB60F and A760F, are they both to be checked between 99 - 111°F?

I read in a few threads the temp ranges are different?

    Did some more digging on the forum and found the following info;

Transmission type for the 5.7L is AB60E/F (E=2WD, F=4WD), and fluid level check temperature range is 99-111 degrees F.

Transmission type for the 4.6L is A760E/F, and fluid level check temperature range is 127-138 degrees F.

I contacted them via email about a product; you may give their email address a try: genuinecoolingsystems@gmail.com

Reply that I received didn't come from Nick, so it could be that he is no longer involved or there are multiple parties. Either way, they were friendly and I will give them business in the very near future. The latest bracket and cooler that GCS offers is the best one that I have seen for the 2019-21 Tundra/Sequoia platform.

I just finished installing a 15-row kit from Genuine Cooling Systems. Some observations:

    • High quality kit and well setup. I ordered the partial kit as the hardline was back ordered. However, I searched eBay for a couple of weeks and found a seller with a new one.
    • Don’t be dumb like me, when you open the ATF fluid to use it to lube the lines, put the cap back on. When I was shuffling under the truck I accidentally knocked over the bottle and lost about a half quart. Ended up with just enough.
    • My previous truck (F-150) was lifted and I’m used to not having to lift my trucks to work on them. My 2020 Platinum is stock height. I didn’t bother lifting it up as it was perfectly level in the garage, that was a mistake and made it much more difficult to install.
    • By far the hardest part was installing the tubing on the front hard line. I couldn’t get much leverage and despite lubing the tube, it was extremely hard to get on.
    • At 45K miles, the transmission fluid looked absolutely scorched when it was draining out of the warmer puck. I’m glad I installed this, but will be changing out the fluid again soon.
    • I struggled a bit with getting the grill off. What helped me was to lift the top of the grill to clear the white tabs first, then start on the left side and put a bit of downward pressure and pulling back to help the clip at the bottom clear. Moved to the right side and repeated.
    • I hate stock Toyota skid plates.

    Too many, but not enough....
Had you ever gotten the tranny temp light before since you said the fluid was toast?

That’s good to hear. I’m still going to replace mine. I’d like to sample and test the ATF once I replace it.

The liquid itself probably would not care if the temperatures were around 200 C, but the plastic parts and rubber seals do not hold up above 100 C for very long. This is beyond my comprehension why Toyota decided to change the tried and true design.

Save money , that is the only explanation since they changed the refrigerant, I added mine when truck had 12k miles and wasn’t towing heavy , will still service at 30k

A little off topic, but here's an informative discussion from the Car Care Nut about changing transmission fluid:

I haven't been able to find an answer to this question: does anyone know at what temp the thermostat is fully opened at?

I'm not knocking this kit. I have it and I'm debating paying for a bracket so I can upgrade to a 20 row because I've seen up to 219/220 when towing. I've read that it's possible the thermostat doesn't actually open until 225 but I've not gotten that high to confirm. I'm going to pin it to see if there is a difference, but figured I'd ask here.

You could have definitely found that answer in here if you search just this thread but to answer the question it opens around 185°. I have the 20-row and not towing the temps stay right around 185°-190°. You can try pinning open the thermostat but wouldn't recommend it, I tried it with mine and temps would be around 160°.

Yeah, so this is why I asked.

I've seen the 185 number for years and is why I bought the kit. 195 is common for me around town with 30+ minutes, normal suburban commute. Not uncommon to see 205 at highway speed. Neither are terribly concerning to me until towing at highway.

More research suggests the thermostat actually opens closer to 225.

I have not been able to find something authoritative from Toyota. With the part now being good through 21 models, I'm not sure if the operating temps have been adjusted, too.

Could be that your thermostat is faulty.

It definitely does not open at 225°. Before adding my cooler I regularly seen 225°+ with normal driving, after adding the cooler rarely goes above 200° so the thermostat definitely opens somewhere in the 185-195 range.

Not something I was thinking. I'll pin and see what the result is. Certainly wouldn't be the worst repair. Thx for the reply!

I’ve only had my 15-row installed four days now, but have taken in on a few 50mi+ trips and in stop/go traffic. The temps get to around 185-189 but are not breaching 190 now. I don’t have the pin installed and I think it’s activating around 185F. When I got home, the tubes were warm and so was the cooler.

For reference, I was pushing 210F in my daily commute before install, so pretty happy with the results.

    None so far.....
Ordered the full kit. Can't tell you how frustrating it is finding out this was an issue. I bought my '21 a few weeks ago and occasionally tow my boat and a small equipment trailer. Mostly use it for running to baseball games. Plan to have the truck for a long time though so a necessary investment. Have most of you completed the install yourselves or used a mechanic? I certainly don't want to fk it up.
