My wife and I are doing the full-time RV life until we get tired of it. We purchased a '22 Tundra Limited at the beginning of July and have been towing a 26ft Northwood Nash 23D pretty much since the start and now have 3,300 miles on the truck.

Reading the owners manual, Toyota "requires" a weight distro hitch for anything over 5k pounds. We added the WDH at about 1,200 miles, and I can tell you it made a big difference. Much less sway and much less "porpoiseing" when going over dips and bumps. As someone else stated previously in this thread, you will want to take caution when passing a semi, the buffeting is intense while towing a tall trailer.

Regular highway driving we have been getting about 18-20mpg, while towing 7.5k pounds we have been getting 10-12.

The lane monitoring safety feature that beeps when you get close to a lane line is annoying. You can change that in the steering wheel settings to vibrate.

Lemme know if you have any questions!

Yes, eeze peeze. But there is always a certain amount of caution needed while towing anything.

0n the road right now with a 26ft mini lite loaded up w 3 bikes and a 25 gallon grey tank on the back of the camper along w 2 kayaks, 100lb generator, 50 lbs of starter wood, 32ft of metal dog crate, sup, couple of zero gravity chairs, 2 Boston terriers, 3 average size humans. Pulls great with avs and husky centerline wdh. Think I might try moving the ball up a hole to get it perfectly level. 400 miles so far getting 9.3 mpg doing 65 to 70 rolling hills on the interstate. 20220811_122632.jpg

We started our full time RV trip as well. We've been in for 3 weeks and so far no issues. I installed some timbrens and had an anti sway hitch from a previous camper. Towing around a 7k trailer loaded and a KTM 500, gravel bike , bout 6 gallons of fuel in the rotopax amd a 100 lb genny strapped to the tongue mount. Just had to re adjust the hitch and it tows amazing. I'm hoping to get around 10 mpg as well on our trip. We're about to head into CO so the passes will eat up some fuel I'm sure. Our plan is to do the entire country then circle back to Idaho in about a year and a half.

Did you lift the truck? WHat size tires are those? I like the look as well with no poke but still more proportional than stock.

Thanks man I have a 1.75 rough country level on the front and adjusted the airbags in the rear. The tires are 35-11.50 on the stock 20s. Definitely should have come out the factory with 35s

Does your truck have a leveling kit installed (looks like it). It looks good! I'm wanting to level the front of my truck, but don't want the nose high towing look. May just have to do airbags.. As is now I'm towing about 7500#, the truck sits dead level with the WDH hooked up.

Thanks! I have the westcott 3/1, 35s, and no bags. Sag was a little over 1” with using a WDH which is acceptable in my book.

Pulling a Grand Design Imagine 2800BH, it’s 32’ hitch to bumper. Probably running around 800lbs tongue weight. Using Equalizer 1000lb hitch. Getting 9-11MPG using Tow+.

The new Tundra pulls the trailer really well, I don’t have any complaints, I feel confident in the truck, been up and down some step grades and the tow+ does great.

I run 7x14 14,000lb dump trailer behind mine, trailer weighs 3600lbs empty, and this truck has no problems when I dump 4 ton in the back pulling over hills..

I had 11000lbs including the trailer behind me the other day, climbing some heavy inclines on the highway. Maintained highway speeds at 2200rpm like a dream. Even made sure to pass a couple eco boost that we’re struggling getting up some hills with their TT on.. I just waved and kept on trucking, loving the power and fuel economy!
I just hate this F*CKING TAILGATE… driving with the back window down is almost torture, the frame is so stiff now the tailgate clunks and bangs all day long…

4 other trucks at my dealer, checked them all and same issue. I guess that’s the perks of living in the brokest province in Canada, can’t afford to pave roads..

These are all very encouraging and impressive results. We are getting our 1794 TRD 5.5 in December. I've read some forums with people complaining that the rated towing capacity sticker is lower than was listed on Toyota's website for their truck.
I'm wondering what the actual rating is of y'alls trucks? Especially a 1794 TRD 5.5 if anyone has one of those.
    thanks.

I hardly ever tow my Harley's, but when I do, there is snow on the ground here in MT and I'm heading south.
2022 Tundra Lmtd TRD OR DC with TRD Lift and about 3k lbs trailer and bikes causes 3/4" of squat.
Yes, trailer jack is off the ground a couple inches, ramp is off the ground couple inches. Tongue weight 368.

Towing a 25’ Ibex. Roughly 4K lbs dry. Truck pulls it like nothing. I do need to have my ball dropped a hair ever since I adjusted the auto leveling arms to their correct position.

We have towed our Airstream on 3 trips and it has no trouble with hills or descents. The trailer has a GVWR of 4,500 lbs and we usually take a bunch of camping stuff and Kayaks too.

The load is there but very stable. We also use a WDH to balance out the load on the truck.

It is a great towing platform.

Our trip around the country is goin well. Currently in Southern Louisiana. Our camper weighs in around 7000 lbs loaded. The tundra pulls it well, especially with the BFGs in sandy terrain.

That's very similar to the trailer I am thinking of getting @FSS. Do you know the loaded tongue weight?

Oh, good question. I don't know the actual loaded tongue weight. Spec'd dry tongue weight on my sheet after build is 575#. I have a loaded pass through with lots of leveling lumber, two 6v's on the tongue. 78 gallon freshwater tank, but it's over the axles so that shouldn't really factor in. Sorry I haven't scaled it.

Screwy Louie, what is your impression of the timbrens? I find mine are noticeably stiff with no load and wondering if they will soften up over time?
