Yes, they refunded the deposit. I don't think they would have a leg to stand on if they refused to refund my deposit. They breached the verbal contract and requested the dollar amount for the deposit. If I had to take them to court, I believe I'd win.

I think some dealers are doing this to show they pre-sold their allotment to continue to receive more units. Really sad the dishonesty we have seen at numerous dealers over the last 2 years.

Got my unicorn in early-January 2022 after putting a deposit down with the dealer in September 2021. Sales guy and his manager were apparently swapping allocation with multiple other dealers to make it happen. I was very specific to what I wanted - black non-hybrid 1794 OR w/ 6.5’ bed and saddle brown interior.

Haven’t seen another yet on the roads.

Agree it looks a bit like a “slammed 250” Was going to do Westcott 3/1 but was advised against it by a few folks that said it would compromise ride quality. Waited and waited, but she is finally getting her TRD Lift Kit installed - in the shop now. Here’s without the lift.

Agree. It's the smallest usable bed length.

    6.5 Crewmax LE here.

Picked up a '23 SR5 Crewmax w/ 6.5' bed last Black Friday. Was just sitting there in the lot with most people crowding around the fancier trims w/ 5.5' bed, probably since it only has the convenience option on it lol
Saw another 6.5' there unsold/untouched as well. Really dependent on area I suppose as there quite a few of the 6.5'ers in teh Chicago area

I found my double cab 6.5 bed unsold at my local dealer. I never understood the use case for trucks with those ~5' short beds, no natter which cab you get. Their loss is our gain. And the DC/6.5 combo really is a cinch to drive. I got out of my Tacoma access cab and I felt right at home in the Tundra.

    alpage,
The truck looks good with the cap. What make and model of cap did you go with?

    Thanks Bird,
It’s a Leer 100XR, added the carpet headliner and roof rails. I’m happy with it so far!

EDIT: Looks like is does work for Dirt Bikes, guess I just had to give it a shot, duh. Still cant put the gas can under the cover...no big deal.

well I sure hope I didn't screw this up, not sure Im liking the 5.5 bed, sure hope I can make this work without trading for a 6.5 foot bed.

So even with roll up covers you loose about 9 inches of space to put a Dirt Bike wheel in there, in my 08 6.5 foot bed that was not a big deal, and I could turn the bike to close the tailgate if I wanted.

Now with the new truck I have two problems, first is the 5.5 foot bed, roll up cover and even with my bed extender the rear tire will be past the end of the tailgate, although not by much. Its not a huge issue but not the way I would have preferred. Second, Im unsure if I can put the bike in and turn the front wheel enough to get the thing inside the bed to close it.

Second problem, the height of the bed floor to rail is two inches less than the previous generations, that sucks cause now my MX gas can doesn't fit under the cover...dammit.

I should note that typically I put my bike on a hitch hauler for short or day trips. SO maybe Im bitching about nothing.IMG_0006.HEIC.jpg IMG_0010.HEIC.jpg IMG_0009.HEIC.jpg IMG_0011.HEIC.jpg IMG_0014.HEIC.jpg

I placed my ask, Crewmax Limited TRD 6.5 foot box in grey metallic, in March 2022, salesman called every month with the same update, still waiting. In January they got allocation for my ask, except the colour is blue print. Not wanting to wait another 6 to 12 months, took the unit. Delivery scheduled for mid April. At least in my area (Ontario, Canada) the 6.5 bed is hard to find. Could have got the shorter box much easier, but really isn’t practical for me. Currently driving a 2014 Tacoma.
