I see swirls when I stare and admire the truck in my garage at night where I have great lighting.

AG will show swirls more than MGM. But AG is the only color that I really like when it’s dirty. Earth colors look great and blend nicely with the green. I think it’s the best color for a camping vehicle.

Good point. Mine won’t be living in the garage unfortunately. That belongs to my wife’s Telluride

Is it just me or does the bed seem super short in this pic?

Love the AG with the bronze tires. What tires are those? I'm looking for new more aggressive AT tires for my 2017 1794. Thanks

I love this AG thread. Topdec I love your words: “But AG is the only color that I really like when it’sdirty. Earth colors look great and blend nicely with the green. I think it’s the best color for a camping vehicle.” I agree 100%!

I am dechroming my truck now. Yesterday and today I did the rear bumper (with the TRD Pro digicamo black, looks great), the tailgate lever, and window trim. I’m going to use black covers on the door handles.

Only thing I need is the moustache which I hate so much, the price from Sparks or paintedOEM is high, looking into price of a wrap. Hope to learn what those of you who dechromed your moustache did, and did you do the installation yourself. How difficult was it?

My question today is that the Matte black window trim seems so much cheaper (in terms of quality) than the chrome. So much lighter weight and it’s missing a piece that connects the vertical and horizontal pieces, so there’s a gap that the chrome didn’t have. I’ll bet that the gloss black window trim is high quality like the chrome, but a lot more $.

Is there an inexpensive black trim fastener available that can clip between these two parts and hide the gap? I have seen these before but don’t know what they’re called. I really don’t want to remove all this, just want to hide the gap, drives me crazy and looks terrible. I’ve tried everything to get them to connect but the lower piece is just too short.

Thanks for any help and I’ll look forward to posting more pics of my AG in the snow, we have a lot of it right now! ;)

Btw though I’m pissed off about the crap matte black window trim fit, I’m really happy with the trd pro digicam rear bumper dechrome. I was worried it would look cheesy but it’s subtle, looks black at a distance but sweet close up. I’ll send better pics in the sun

PS it was a total bi#%% to install ;)

Pls LMK the best price on AG moustache and your experience with the install. I’m worried it looks like a real PITA install and expensive part. What about a wrap without removing the part

I don’t think anyone has tried a diy wrap on the grille without taking it off. You could be the first :)

Thanks topdec! I’m wondering how long a wrap would last. I may have to bite the bullet and buy the part from sparks or paintedoemparts etc. I am a bit worried about the install it looks pretty lengthy with lots of clips to potentially break. I really want to get rid of the moustache however.

Just a quick update re dechroming the window trim on TRD limited. The rear window matte black parts did not fit my truck properly and left a gap between pillar and rear window trim. I also found them to be much less well constructed than the gloss chrome versions, they feel like much cheaper material.

I’m happy to share that I purchased the gloss black rear window parts instead and they are perfect. There is a connector that links the pillar and window trim parts so the fit is seamless. They installed like a dream and look fantastic. The matte black parts did not fit properly on my limited and I think that they must be for the SR5 or other trim.

To anyone dechroming your limited window trim, just from my experience, I suggest the gloss parts despite their higher price for optimal fit and compatibility. Cheers!

I have the army green moustache and side parts incoming from OEM factory painted parts. I’m going to install it myself despite my concerns.

To prepare I’ve been watching the video linked below, if there are other videos you find I’d be grateful for links. Anyone who has done this installation before, I appreciate your tips and advice!

I’ll take and post many pics throughout. This is the last step in my dechrome. I can’t wait to have her fully ArmyGreen (6V7)!

Dechromed my moustache and side pieces today and replaced with beautiful Army Green the way they should have been! A good install process, took my time, thrilled with the results

    Thanks mgotham!

I went with paintedoemparts “Grill surround kit”. Waited until a small sale and $25 off coupon.

Had looked seriously into wrapping, came to believe installing the painted OEM part is a more permanent solution with more exact color
match. I must have watched the install video about 50 times before jumping into it. Be sure you specify Paint Color: Army Green (6V7) and provide your VIN.

It took 2 weeks from order time to shipping, another week or so to arrive (during snowstorm), total 3 weeks from order to arrival which is just fine with me.

Not an inexpensive set of parts but they completed my chrome delete and I feel have the biggest impact on appearance. I can’t stop looking at the truck, it’s the way it should have been.

The install is not difficult but there are times where you have to be quite careful to make sure you don’t damage any of your front end components. I got my chrome parts off with no damage which is great, I’ll be selling them to offset the cost (somewhat).

Now I’m focused on some minor improvements to my TRD lift kit (new rear coil springs, installing the sway bar spacers and TRD skid plate spacers).

If you’re doing a chrome delete on your truck I highly suggest installing the OEM parts (for the window trim, rear bumper parts, and front moustache and side pieces). The installs are 100% doable, don’t pay anyone to do this for you

After two months of waiting, i have finally joined the club. Upcoming mods only included tinting the windows and a soft top in the near future.
