Keeping perforated seats clean? How do you do it?

I already noticed my nieces got some of their sugar in the perforated holes on the backseat, and my girlfriend some dirt up front.

Well I do understand it's a truck, I definitely don't want there to be build up in the seats.:crapstorm:

I love the way the seats look and feel, but I'm tempted for the first time in my life to buy a back seat cover or I could do it the old school Korean mom way and throw a towel down back there like we had growing up:rofl:

Any other suggestions? Well I can limit food in the car, I don't want to be a tyrant about it, and I definitely am not going to prevent people from getting in after we just went hiking.

Towels for hiking. Eat before you go. Hard to limit everything. Bring 2 pairs of shoes for hiking. Nasty ones go in bed, slip on slides or clean pairs for inside. You can be creative and respectful. Just have to prepare in advance.

No joke, I cringe at taking my kids to the beach. Last summer I threw a twin sized fitted sheet on the rear seat bottom, it worked ok. But in general I haven’t had to much luck with perforated seats and kids. Literally traded in my last vehicle with chocolate stuck in holes in the seat. I would definitely trade cool looks for practicality.

I get it. But if you are a parent and expect to own a nice, pristine vehicle, your expectations are too high or you will be a jerk. Determine what your priorities are in life, the vehicle cleanliness will follow.

prevention ideas everyone is sharing are great but don't help with the situation the op is asking about.

what i do is try and get as much suction from a shop vac (flat so it is lifting the seat with suction) as i can to get the majority out. whatever is jammed in so tight that it doesn't get sucked out get pushed through the hole into the seat cushion with a small piece of wire or toothpick. then i vacuum again.

I think everyone is missing OP point in these perforated seats are a pain if anything gets on them and any tips to clean the perforations. I dont have anyone eat in it but just by constant use and in and out small specs seem to get jammed in the seat.
The best I have come up with a strong vacuum with smallest tip you can find. And the last resort is I have used air compressor. Didnt seem to blow it deeper but out when i blasted close to the clog.

We just got back from a beach trip to florida. I use my shop vac to get the bigger stuff. If the dirt is minimal you can use P&S Xpress interior cleaner. If you need a more thorough cleaning on the leather I recommend Colourlock leather cleaner. I also use a toothpick around the perforation holes to see if I can get it picked up with a rag or at least make sure the hole isn't covered with the sugar and open up the hole again.

The OP asked for prevention, not what to do afterwards. You offered after the fact. How do you prevent? No food or some type of cover. There still may be a clean up required.

Both my new Tundra and my wife’s Mazda CX-9 have them. For someone as OCD as me it’s horrible.

I clean them like normal leather then I use a pick and the vacuum hose to clear the perforations that are clogged. My wife both appreciates it and makes fun of me for it .

Agreed, I’m not expecting a clean pristine vehicle, I lost that 18 years ago. I’m just looking for ease of cleaning. The new Tundra would be just as nice with a solid Softex like many Toyotas before this. No added cost.

EXACTLY. This is why I bought a truck topper/camper shell. Kid can ride in the bed now and not get wet.
