Exactly my thoughts. It's one thing to say it's the dealership policy to not do that, or only for customers who purchased their. Whatever. But to say that it can't be done means either that someone is incompetent or someone is lying. Neither alternative is reassuring.

I'll push the issue when I go in for my 5k service.

The official techstream software is $1500 for the OBD2 Mongoose cable and 1 year subscription service to techstream.

There's a cracked version of Techstream that works with a $50 mini vci cable. Cable you can get off Amazon. Not sure how this works, but there are people here who had success with cracked version. I have the official techstream from my shop.

But if you just looking to just do some setting customization, there's is Carista OBD2 adapter that works with your phone, other members here have found it works to disable seat belt, fake engine noise, window down with key fob, and changing warning volumes. Probably more options in there too. I believe this is the cheapest route, the adapter is about $30 and then the subscription service for $10/month.

I can confirm that an OBD2 adapter and the Carista app will work on our '22 Tundras. I used the same OBD2 adapter I bought in '17 to customize my Tacoma. Was able to select all five seating locations and disable the alarm as well as change my turn signal flash from three to seven. Total cost of $9.99 for a month to use it and as long as I cancel it isn't a recurring charge.

Yes, buy the Carista for $29.99 and get a 1 month for $9.99, make your mods, then cancel. I can confirm it works fine.

Any option in TS for backup sensors while trailering?? Absolutely blows my mind Toyota didn’t have an option to turn off the insane amount of warnings when backing up with a trailer on. Instead I have to stop and press the little ok button to temp mute sensors just to have to do it again if I shift from R to D and back to R. Wtf Toyota? Completely thoughtless. I love this truck, but it seems Toyota didn’t think a lot of things through with the safety tech for certain situations. To be fair though I haven’t looked too deep as I know there is a whole section on trailering in the digital setup that maybe will help with this.

I thought you could push the button to the left of the steering wheel to turn off those sensors when trailering?

Exactly what I used to disable the seatbelt chime (allows you to do so by individual seats) and also disable the faux engine noise. There are a handful of changes that can be made via the Carista app. It's pretty much foolproof, whereas techstream is not.

Unfortunately not.. yet at least. From what I can tell, Carista gives you the same options that you would likely want to alter with TechStream (I have both)

I purchased a device for my wife's VW Atlas that plugs in between the physical start/stop disable button, and its factory wiring harness. It turns the start/stop off when the vehicle is started, and gives you the options to push the button, thus activating the start/stop function if desired. Hoping someone comes out with something like this for the Tundra. I wouldn't be too surprised if it already exists.

I disabled both seats thru Carista a couple years ago. My girlfriend constantly forgets to put her seatbelt on. It might be worth the $10 to turn the passenger seat chime back on..

This is so annoying. I had the dealer disable the front seats in my 2010 as soon as I brought it to their attention that Toyota listed it in the manual as an owner's preference to be modified by the dealer. In advance of my 2023 purchase, I downloaded the manual and couldn't find similar verbiage regarding the seat belt chime. I contacted Toyota to see if they could direct me to the specific instruction and they said that it was no longer included, citing driver safety, blah, blah, blah.

I'm going to try the bootleg Techstream route vs carista. $50 for a cable vs $30 for a OBD2 dongle, plus the cost of the app, and subscription every time I want to change something seems more worthwhile. Techstream is probably more robust, in what you can change, I imagine.

As an adult, I don't need a reminder to buckle my seatbelt when I know it's prudent. I also don't need to be harassed when I'm driving 3mph on my own land.

Please let us know if there are more features that Carista doesn't allow. Good luck!

It's so frustrating to read so many STUPID & IDIOTIC replies from you morons!!!! DUH... do seatbelts really save lives??? No way, impossible, nobody has ever heard that before!!! Everyone in the world is a head trauma surgeon, everyone is a first responder, everyone has had a million relatives killed who weren't wearing their seatbelts, etc. Drinking alcohol isn't safe, eating fatty food isn't safe, eating candy isn't safe, do you want other people telling you what you can and cannot eat!!!! The question was posted for a reason and you don't know what the reason is... either answer the question or shut your mouth!!!! Nobody needs to be preached to... if you don't know the answer... don't respond.

Not a very smart response amigo... I did not respond to the question, I responded to the answers! In fact, exactly like you did... so why did you reply to my answer?

Your comments add absolutely no value to the question. My comment adds value... as I'm trying to discourage people who add no value from posting stupid comments like yours.

Wow! Thank you so much for sharing this with everyone. Although you added absolutely no value to the topic at hand... you did manage to tell everyone that wearing seatbelts is safe! Nobody had any idea wearing a seatbelt was safe - thank you so much. It's a shame it hasn't been a law in every State in the US for 30 years so it could save even more lives.

I can't wait to read your next post when a member is asking how to fix their cigarette lighter and you tell them you've worked smoking deaths for 20 years and not smoking really does make a person more healthy.

He's not wearing a seatbelt in the pictures?

Furthermore, there are a million wrecks a year were seatbelts saved lives... not to mention there has been a seatbelt law in place for over 30 years now... so what value does your post add?

The question was posted asking how to disable the seatbelt chime... it didn't say, "I want to drive without my seatbelt on can somebody please help me accomplish this"!

This is a site to come to for answers to questions, not advice on how they choose to live their lives.

Trying to help? How? By telling people to wear a seatbelt? LOL! Classic. I can't wait to read your next post telling people not to smoke, not to chew, don't do drugs, etc. People who completely waste other peoples time does rile me up... it's rude and disrespectful. Whether it's on day 1, day 2, or day 50 million, doesn't change the fact that you didn't add any value to the topic. Remember to wear your safety glasses!

I guess there's always the option to block my replies.... Just be happy. Maybe you weren't aware, but stress is inherently bad for you and should be avoided. There's my input for today; you already covered the other important topics.

Now that added value! (...there's my input for today) and humor is good for stress... and yes, I'm well aware of just about everything to do with stress and treating it... it's the rumination that really takes a toll on me. Take care and no hard feelings.
