    Good Morning Jim!

    Good Morning Chris!

    Good Morning Bill!

    Good Morning Bryan!

    Good Morning Rush!

Good Morning Rafael, Casey, Mike, Matt, Adam, Rosy, Charles, Gino, Noble, and all the rest of y'all!

Rough night - around 2:00, all the fire alarm/smoke detectors went off. That sound will wake you up but the volume and pitch is VERY disorienting! After finding no evidence of fire or smoke anywhere (including the attic), I tried to reset the detectors. Nothing worked until I started pulling them one by one, pulling the battery, and disconnecting them from their network. I pulled four of them like this, and before I could get to the next one the rest just stopped. After doing another check, I starting reconnecting the alarms. The status lights all showed green - normal with no alarm. Both dogs were in our bed by that time, trembling and covering up my wife. It took awhile for me to settle down enough to get back to sleep. Anyone ever have that happen to them? I'm calling tomorrow to have the whole system checked out.

How often do you actually go around and do the test on them, and blow them out for dust, and check the batteries?
MFGR says to test them monthly - most never do it until they have what you had happen last night.
I try to do mine at least once a quarter.

Morning Kelly. How old are your fire alarms? Most have a 10 year service life and then alarm.

They have the batteries changed annually, and I blow them out then, and test them with the new batteries. This is the first time this has happened since we moved into the house 15 years ago.

Probably original from when the house was built in 2004. As I mentioned above, this is the first time this has happened. And WHY does it have to happen in the middle of the NIGHT?!?!?

Based on last night, I'm going to have the whole system serviced this week.

Something like this happened to all my CO2/Smoke Detectors last year. A few different times (I does seem like it always happens between 11PM-2AM) the alarms would start going off. The detectors were 8-9 years old at the time.

I just ordered the replacements from Amazon . I have 8 in my house.

8? You must have a big ass house. I have 1 detector, it's in the hallway at the center of the house.

I’m scatterbrained today. Forgot to add the picture. In reality I have 2750’ of living space. My next place will be 1600-2100’ after the kids get the boot.

I used to have one on each floor but one died and I figured the second floor was pretty safe without one.

I'm at just under 2,100'. I'm sure if the house was newer (1978) I'd probably have more than 1.

    How old is the house?
Current code requires one in every bedroom, in common space adjacent to any bedroom (corridor or hallway), and one in proximity to the kitchen. I’ve got 7 in about 3000SF and will end up with at least three more when I actually finish the basement.

edit: just saw your answer to the age

Also it's single story, flat roof, on a slab, so no basement, upstairs, or attic.

We have 3, one on each floor including the basement. Weird this topic came up because I changed my batteries just yesterday.

Same here, well kinda. I have a crawl space and a utility room downstairs. The single level living is very nice though.

Yeah - 3 stories here including unfinished daylight basement (currently my workshop).
The two upstairs bedrooms each have one plus one on the landing between them.
The master bedroom has one plus one outside the entrance to it.
One at the top of the basement stairs that is also right next to the kitchen.
And one at the entrance into the basement. When we finish the basement out to be an apartment with two bedrooms, there will be three more required (each bedroom plus the common area between them).
