Just saw this and contacted SOB Fabrication. Looking forward to getting mine. For weeks I had driven by a Tacoma parked in my old neighborhood with this exact bumper design and have always meant to ask the owner where he got it. Now I know.

Just thought I'd post an update. So I drove to Batteries Plus last Saturday (10/8) and they checked the battery (9 months old). They stated the battery was too low and needed to be 12.5v for them to fully test it. I couldn't leave the battery with them to charge since I used it to drive there. I drove home and put my own charger on it overnight. Next day installed it and everything seemed fine so I left it at that. Fast forward to today and the truck wouldn't start again. I drove back to Batteries Plus and the lady just gave me a replacement without testing it. I hope this one lasts longer than 9 months. I did see that the X2 batteries no longer have a 5 year warranty, they are only 4 years now.

Ok, not sure when they changed. My original was a 24F bought December 2021 and it was a 5 year. Now they are only 4 yr.

    Thanks for the update.
I hope things work out in your favor..

Mine had died twice within 5 months of purchase using an HKB boostrer.
The second time Batteries Minus gave me a loaner, kept it for 3 days, and after testing they said it was fine.
They also said if it died again, they would replace it, no questions, no more testing.

A month later it dies again.
They had no loaner and said they needed the battery for 3 days to test it.
That was from the same manager that made the above promise to replace, no questions and no testing..
I told him to go f*uck himself and traded that X2 Power AGM in on a $25 core charge for an Interstate MTP...

In one of the many threads I have read about using an AGM, it was said that in 2018+ Tundra's the ECU controls the voltage output. Does this mean the Diode wont work in said model years? Seems some of you are running the diode in 18+ models and are not not having any issues.

From looking at one of the wiring diagrams, the ALT-S fuse is between the battery+ and the ECU. I believe this is the fuse that is replaced. So in this case it should work because the ECU is reading lower voltage due to the resistance and tells the alternator to step it up.

Yep, it the ALT-S fuse that is used for the diode. Thanks for the response. SemperFi

I've had the HKB fuse in my truck for about 4 months now and its doing its job (14.7 volts then will adjust), but I'm thinking about switching back to a standard battery. The truck does turn over, but there was a little hesitation one morning when it got cold (38 degrees). I live in an apartment so throwing it on a trickle charger is tough, and the truck gets driven at least 5 days a week for about a 40 minute commute round trip.

Any disadvantages of leaving the HKB fuse in with a standard non AGM battery? I'm still undecided about going to a standard battery, but I want to feel confident in the battery whether it is a standard battery or AGM battery.

If you did go back to standard I would take it out.

Nope take it out or you'll overcharge your non-AGM battery.

This. Lead acid on stock voltage. AGM on boosted if possible but stock is still safe.

I had the HKB and there was just something off about it as it would never get high enough to charge an AGM. Ended up just buying the cheap GM diode on Amazon and it performs a lot better for a lot cheaper.

With AGMs you can safely take the battery down to 50%. Anything more than that you’ll end up damaging the battery to the point where it doesn’t hold onto its charge. 12.05 volts is about the 50% mark. Make it a habit to check your battery level every once in a while before it’s first engine start of the day - would help a lot if you have a digital readout of your battery. This way you get a chance to save your battery if levels were trending downwards.

I put my AGM battery on a trickle charger for 24 hours yesterday. The tickle charger (Noco Genius 10) on AGM setting said it was completely charged, and when I put a voltmeter on the battery it said 11.6 volts.

That is what I'm thinking and debating to try another AGM since I already have an HBK or go back to normal battery. First time trying an Advance Auto brand AGM battery...I've had good luck with Optimum batteries in the past.

Do you think the HBK isn't working up to snuff?

I think I killed the battery as I had the AGM battery in the truck for well over 1 year without any issues and knowing what I know now about the Tundras and AGM batteries.

When using the rago group 31 battery tray, did the stock J hooks still fit? Or did you need longer ones?

Any truth that the AGM + the diode fuse will not work on 18+ tundras? I thought I read somewhere that the trucks charging system will not work on this setup with newer trucks?

If you have an AGM battery highly suggest you hook up a battery monitor with bluetooth app on your phone...that way if you ever do need to hook your battery up to your charger(even with an HKB I occasionally do and I use a CTEK) this will be a great way to know when...like 50% before you kill an expensive battery. If my truck is going to sit for long periods I leave my charger on....https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GP1RXYZ
