...But I am joining the club tomorrow. Picking up a 2023 Lunar Rock SR5 Double cab 6.5 bed Off Road with black softex, premium audio (big screen), Advanced Off Road tech, Off Road premium package, BSM/PVM, heated steering wheel, skid plate and trifold cover at MSRP. I found it locally just doing a random search and it is almost exactly what I would order if I could. The only thing I don't like is the chrome mustache but I see that can be wrapped, which will be on my agenda at some point. The Off Road wheels are also not my favorite. I prefer the Sport spokes style which happen to be 20s, so maybe that in the future. I dunno, the OR wheels may grow on me and there really is no reason for 20" wheel profiles on trucks.

I'll pretty quickly need to get a cat protection plate and a rear seat cover for the dog. Anyone have suggestions for the dog cover? I see lots of info on cat plates here already. Also need to find one of those carpet bed mats like I have in my Tacoma to keep stuff from sliding around. Will transfer the Viofo dashcam and swing case from the Tacoma before taking it to my moms place or selling it. I am not sure I can bear to part with it, it has been so good to me and is in perfect mechanical condition. But it is 14 1/2 years old. Pics of the new Tundra tomorrow, hopefully.

Hoping for no turbo issues and to be pleasantly surprised with MPG. But not expecting much now with winter gas where even my Tacoma takes a big hit.

Got mine less than two weeks ago and its awesome, my 08 tundra was totaled but it was in great condition, but love the new one, averaging 18.5 80 miles round trip to work, mostly highway speeds.

That will be acceptable. I am getting 18 mpg with my 4.0 2009 Tacoma under those conditions now on winter gas. Up to 21-22 in summer. So if the Tundra does anything close that will be a win what with all the extra room and capability.

Ive seen 20.5 on a couple trips but this is overall across 800 miles, so probably a even mix of driving conditions.

20s are a good option if the truck stays on the road and you don’t want to move to an LT tire. Less sidewall flex without the MPG hit, better handling over the same size tire in an 18” wheel.

My Tundra has the TRD front skid plate as an installed option. Will that interfere with these cat shields or do the cat shields go farther back? I won't have the truck until tomorrow so I don't know what the arrangement looks like under there.

Deal done, here she is. Drives like a dream, no wind noise issues at least up to 65 mph. Big screen is a beauty. Camera mirror will take some getting used to since it has a different focus than a real mirror. But at least the rear headrests don't block the view. Have a bit of the burning smell others have reported, probably temporary and nothing to worry about. I need to do a deep dive into the manuals for a few things... like is there a way to have the mirrors retract whilst the truck is running? With them folded in there is maybe a small chance I can get the nose of the truck into my tiny garage for oil changes and such. So much more room than the Tacoma and I love the 8-way seat and lumbar. Woman and dog will be happy with their accommodations, too.

Very nice, can you share what you paid out the door? I've been looking at a similar build. Did you get the 32 gallon fuel tank?

Mine has a switch on the door next to the window buttons to retract the mirrors. Mine is a Platinum so not sure if that is on all of them. I only use the camera function of the mirror when something is blocking the back window. I prefer the actual mirror otherwise.

Yes, sure. I paid MSRP. This is pretty loaded for a SR5. Has EE premium audio, AO Advanced Tech Off Road pkg (which includes the 32 gal tank, MTM, SPA, etc), MK (BSM and PVM), QQ Off Road premium pkg (Softex, Bilsteins, locking diff, crawl, 8-way driver +lumbar and 2-way passenger seat, metal pedals, DAC, dual zone auto climate, color key door handles, etc.) ST TRD front skid plate, WV TRD off road wheels, WS heated steering wheel, 2T all-weather floor liners, 59 phone cables, 5A tri fold tonneau cover. MSRP was $58,489. Then just a couple incidental dealer fees, taxes, tags, etc., which varies for where you live. They started with $2500 ADM, immediately came down to $1000 ADM. When I got home from my initial visit they e-mailed me the offer at MSRP. First time I have ever paid full MSRP for a vehicle but it doesn't feel so bad these days.

From my past searches I was surprised to see that this thing had been sitting at the lot unclaimed. Up till lately they were almost all spoken for before they even got to the dealer. So, when I saw one that was the color and equipped like I wanted and it was not taken, what could I do?

Looks like something my GF's sister uses for her rottie in her Nissa Rogue. We just have a 22# JRT mix and don't need or want the hammock type. Just the seat cover type. Need to be able to reach back and pet him. :)

I've never used the hammock, it's tucked under the seat..

    Rci skid plate,
I put in a ibuddy dog hammock ordered the truck size. Fit perfect and was able with some bungee cord make it so it stays up against the passenger rear door panel so window can be down to avoid using a roof handle that blocked the window. Very good fitment at a great price and I have washed it several times and sun dried. No issues.

I second this. I've used this style for years. Mine has lasted from 2015 to now (so far). Ignore the stretched look of the straps. I never readjusted the straps from when I had this in my 5th Gen 4runner and moved it into my Tundra. haha.

This is what we are going with for the dog cover. Have the same one in her Honda CRV and it works well and has held up just fine. They make a large version (63") that should fit the Tundra. Much less intrusive and hassle than those hammock style covers that are really overkill for our little dog.
