I need to do my front/rear brakes and I want to know what is the best grease for the caliper slide pins, pad mounting tabs and back of pads. Superlube seems to be brought up frequently but some also say some anti-seize for the back of the pad and pad guides. What's your experience?

Do you use this for all parts-slide pins, backing plate and pad guides?

I have been using the Permatex Silicone Ceramic Extreme Brake Lube #80653 (orange color) for all brake lube points. It is good for the rubber/plastic parts and metal to metal. Very wide temp range -50F to 3000F vs Sil-Glide range of -20F to 400F. Permatex Ceramic Extreme Brake Lube #24125 (purple color) not appropriate for rubber/plastic parts - causes swelling.

What good is 3000f grease? The other components and the fluid can't possibly get anywhere close to that without failure. Just can't see the why here.

The 3000F is not the point - it's the 400F (or maybe 500F) of the Sil-Glide. Too low for metal to metal parts on brakes that can get very hot. Conventional wisdom has been to use two lubes, one for the rubber contacting pins (Sil-Glide is a favorite and works very well) and a copper or nickel based anti-seize (or the purple Permatex) for the metal to metal. The orange Permatex is relatively new and can work in all applications. I use it instead of the two different lubes just to keep things easy.

Maybe 400 coming down a mountain, not regularly. If so, time for driving lessons.

Permatex purple goo on the pad ears and where the pad rubs on the caliper piston.

Silicone paste on the slide pins

I am replacing the calipers on my boat trailer. I thought about greasing the slide pins since I will I have them out. I am not planning to replace the caliber brackets. Not sure I can even get the bolts off the axle brackets. My thought is grease will attract dirt.

If you had no anti-seize or purple Permatex and had to just buy one, would it be an anti-seize as it may have more purposes that just brakes?

Likely yes. I have an 8oz bottle of anti-seize that I have had forever - a little bit goes a long way. I do not have any purple Permatex, just the orange.

Use dry lube like graphite or dry silicone.
