Did anyone get PPF done on their truck? If so, what brand did you get? What body panels did you get done? How much did you pay?

My buddy's 2018 raptor with 75k miles had so many rock chips on the bumper and hood. So it had me thinking I should get my truck wrapped.

I had my '22 completed back when I bought it this past summer.

I got lots done, but again, our cars here in Canada take a beating during winter with salt on the road.

    Full hood
    Full fenders
    Full bumper
    Headlights/fogs
    Partial roof
    Door cups

Price was $2400 CAD, so roughly $1850 USD.

As for brands, nowadays, you have to pick the installer vs brand of PPF.

On my 21 TRD Sport (color match front), I had the entire front including headlamps, half hood, half fenders, mirrors, door handle cups and door edges done. Brand was XPel. He also tinted the front windows. Total about $850. But then I really supported the guy when he was just starting out so he always gives me a good price. Understand if you have white truck, within a couple months the edges of the film get dirty and show as light pencil lines all over your truck. I never noticed that on our silver, platinum or blue vehicles.

My 23 got PPF added at the port. I didn't want to pay for the premium protection package ($599) but once it arrived and I saw the PPF (Suntek) was part of the deal I was ok with it. After a few road trips, I am glad I have it. It has PPF on the following areas, partial hood, door edges, handle cups, mirror backs, rocker panels and front bumper sides.

With a good installer, they will wrap the PPF around the edges to avoid this issue, more time consuming but well worth it.

Hence why you need to pick your installer vs. PPF brand.

All my vehicles have PPF on them. Two , including my Tundra, have XPEL, and the third car has 3M. All have held up well and done the job.
As jproy stated, do your research and pick the right installer. Try and get them to show you any current projects to see what they are capable of.

I got Xpel done the day after I picked up my truck. They did:
    Front bumper
    Full hood
    Full Fenders
    Door cups
Front lights (headlights, fogs, light bar)
    A pillars and cab top
    Rocker Panels
    Mirrors

I had a couple other services done (tint, ceramic coat, interior protectant) but the PPF cost me $2,100 (CAD).

Yes, I got full body STEK installed by a local detailer. They wrapped everything they could, even the plastic iForceMax badge.

    Paid ~6K after discount.

I've got it done but only on my headlights. Cost me a bill. I hate rock chips and sun damage.

Has anyone had their wrapped car for years. I have heard horror stories of film turning yellow (which I doubt) and cars where for some reason it had to be removed and it took off some of the paint.

I guess I’m just asking, because I tend to keep my cars a long time. My 2005 XRS has 200,000. Plus my 1969 Chevy.

I am sure it happens with bad applications and cheap film. If you use a reputable shop that uses top grade materials I dont think you would have issues.

I have had my cars wrapped for close to 15 years and for the last 10 years always with XPEL. I've never had any problems.

The PPF from a decade ago can yellow if not properly maintained. There was a coating that needed to be applied every so often.

Yep. I've already removed it from our door cups and one mirror. About to remove it from the hood and the other mirror.

    Hard to do w
Exactly. Some areas just don’t have edges to wrap the film around. And if you do only half the hood, etc.

Hard to do, yes, but almost a "must" where possible!

I've had all my previous 4 brand new cars PPF'ed, and you learn from experience on what needs to be done, and you get what you pay for. Agreed, those getting half the hood it's hard to see, but again, a good install you shouldn't be seeing the lines much or at all

Planning to get mine with stek matte ppf 1800 for full front for now. Shop quoted me 7k for full body not bad compared to 10k from other shops.

Damn, that's pricey. I want to wrap the full truck in stealth xpel, when we get it. I think a solar octane, with the matte will look pretty good.

The local shop near me, which is super reputable and works on some high end rigs, wants $12k for the whole truck. ouch.

No, wife talked me out of it for now. Putting the funds elsewhere. It's a pretty special paint, so I figured I can keep it shiny for a few years, then switch it up with a matte wrap.
