Just recently installed an Entune 3.0 headunit in my Tundra.

A few questions for guys with a 2020 or 2021 Tundra that came with Entune 3.0 headunit factory.

I have the non navigation unit. Unfortunately during install I broke my gps antenna connector. So I have questions.

For you non Nav 3.0 guys, do you still have a map on the Home Screen of the unit? Just no ability for driving directions ect?

Also do you guys have the compass, street names, speed limit ect displayed on the instrument cluster? Or just information from audio source.

My clock won’t update I believe because no GPS signal.

I now have working CarPlay but hoping to get the Toyota map on Home Screen for when my phone isn’t plugged in. Would also like to have compass street names ect on dash gauges. My old Entune 2.0 Nav unit did all this.

    Thanks

I have a 20 with non jbl and non nav unit. Not exactly sure what you mean by map of Home Screen on unit. Mines has the compass in the rear view mirror not on the cluster. Only thing viewable on the cluster is mpg stuff, trip, mph, range. Radio has its separate page. And as far as I know there is no way to make a non nav unit to be a nav unit. Stick to CarPlay, way better for sure. I have had the OEM nav and it’s a pain.

I'm confused - you noted that you have non Nav, so not sure how you'd have any map.

But for info you asked: my new2me 2021 1794 has nav. I'm not paying for services, but it does have speed limits most times, not everywhere. Maps seem current, but hey, I live in Oklahoma where roads don't change much.

The home screen is customizable in settings - I have it set for audio top left, phone bottom left, map right side. Clicking on any one of those opens it full screen.

Nav not bad for quick reference but just as @pursuit2550 noted above, I prefer map from phone because will always have current maps. I use Android auto and like Waze app because get community notifications for accidents, police, hazards.

ETA, a trick I discovered that is not in manual. Manual does mention that holding the command button for 3 seconds allows voice command to carplay or android auto. I also discovered that holding that button but saying nothing switches the display to the cell phone projection. Works well.

Now I get what he meant by map on Home Screen. Yeah if you don’t have a nav unit there is no map to display.

No map on home screen for non nav systems. You can use the physical map button to quickly toggle to Apple Maps if you have your phone hooked up though

That is what I was afraid of. The seller said it came from his SR5 and he swears it showed the map on the home screen however it just would not give directions ect.

I might end up going to a Nav unit then. I had the older nav unit and like seeing the map on the home screen when just driving around town. I dont want to have to plug my phone in every time.

Loosing the compass, street names, speed limits is a little disappointing as well. I had gotten where I liked seeing that info on the gauge cluster.

I use Apple Carplay and my iPhone. I do know that I have downloaded updates from Toyota Connect. Mirror has a compass and the homelink stuff. Factory nav systems never stay up to date. As well when using Apple maps my iWatch clicks like a turn signal to let me know a turn is coming up. Don't think factory nav has that!

There should be (at least in Entune 2.0/2.5?) a "Scout GPS" program that is an Entune app GPS. When I first bought my 2019, that's what it had. It was so awful trying to initialize during the "test drive / sale ride" that my salesman and I just made the call that "no, this truck doesn't have GPS, oh well". I later found out through here, that the truck has the GPS antenna and all you need is a NAV head unit to use the stock NAV (not sure if all models/trims, but at least SR5+ do).
I bought a 2016 (I believe) NAV entune non JBL unit from Ebay and it was direct PnP. I believe it is compatible with 2014-2019 models. I dont know if the 3.0 with apple CP changed that for the 20-21 models. It does push the compass, and turn by turn to the instrument gauge (directly behind the steering wheel) when I use the head unit turn by turn (very rare) with no modifications. I use Apple Maps or Waze shouting through the speakers via blue tooth for turn by turn. The phone is mounted just to a MagSafe charger just near the vent using a piece of 3m Dual Lock.

I dont know. I dont use it. Maybe a web browser thing to sign into to access. I had to do it when I swapped headunits and I honestly dont remember what I did. But the Nav works, and it connects via bluetooth to my phone to dial calls, recent calls, contacts etc., ask Siri, and give turn by turn (Apple Maps).
