If I were on a jury it'd be a real quick "Not Guilty" for any beat down that got dispensed to these dirtbags by the truck owner.

Tweakers gonna' tweak, and thieves gonna' steal, especially if there's no consequeces. I think they really need to crack down on the dirty recyclers that are buying these. Do a bunch of stings and make it too risky and painful for them. If they stop accepting cats that they damn well KNOW are stolen then there'll be no point in stealing them anymore.

People suck... Sorry you got hit OP

No, I dropped my truck off at my dealership the next day.
Parts and labor for just the cat replacement was around $6K, they also had to replace a heat shield and fuel line.
They had my truck for 8 months and 5 days, dropped it off in November, and got it back in July..:eek2:
The dealer put me in one of their rental/loaner 2021 Tacomas.
My insurance paid for 1 month of car rental and Toyota paid for the other 7 months.

I'd contact your local dealership and get a quote.
    These are MSRP prices;
They will quote you a new muffler, that's around $500.
I'd guess the converters/pipe are around $1600 to $1800 each side
O2 sensors are around $222 each - needing 2 of them
Hopefully, they didn't cut the wire on the truck side of the O2 connector
Plus they will add their labor to the estimate, that's what adds up.

As others stated the worst part is the backorder.
    I don't think it's 8 months anymore, but might be a good 2 or 3.
You might get lucky and get one sooner..
    Good luck.

It seems to me racketeering laws could bring this stuff to a halt. Of course, that would require a functioning government.

Yeah they quoted me 2 months at least. My insurance will also cover 30 days of rental. I'll ask about the rest of the time. I'm going to the dealership tomorrow.

Just got off the phone with the stealealership. 3-6 months. They pay for the rental until the truck is ready.
Question, did you pay the insurance they sell you for the rental or did you add the rental into your policy?

I got the RCI full skid package so I could get their cat covers. The day I was to pick them up I got sick. I was planning on installing them this weekend.

F*#%! those bastards! Not RCI but the cat thieves and the microbes in my body working for them.

Final quote is $4200. 50 pieces in backorder. At least 3 month wait.
The bad wins, the good looses.
What a great time we live in.

That’s how I sold my wife on an $800 skid plate package and cat guards. Granted, I only needed the transmission plate for the guards and not the engine but it’s still a fraction of what stolen cats will set us back.

I should have told her I needed sliders as well to make it extra hard to steal my catalytic converters. Still would have come out ahead.

I’m sorry to hear about your situation. That is really frustrating.

    Just a few

For sure. My wife has a coworker that have had their Toyota cats stolen 2-3 times. Makes me realize I need to get my Valhalla Shields installed. I hate the cold weather, but gotta stay ahead of the crackheads.

I plan on helping my local thieves by doing the hard work for them and then getting rid of the annoying dash light.

I wonder if you would need to get the computer re-programmed. I assume removing the cats would reduce your back pressure and may cause your rig to run rough.

    Sorry, I just saw this..
Rentals are covered by my existing vehicle insurance.
Throughout my 8-month process, the only thing I paid was my $200 deductible..

The only time I pay for extra insurance is the rare event when I rent a Uhaul.
I'm not going back and forth with them on damage to their already beatup vehicle..:D

Nice to see your dealership taking care of you, not everyone got that.
I'd think they will change your insurance for your full rental vehicle policy limit, mine was $1200, then Toyota will cover the rest.
I'm sure Toyota wrote off their part of my rental, but that bill would have been well over $9000..

Takes less than an hour to install the shields.
I'll take an hour of cold weather instead of dealing with cat theft..

How would you feel if your cats were stolen while your plates sat in the garage?

No programming needed. I ran mine straight piped for 9 months with no CEL after my cats were stolen. Ran perfectly fine, just sounded like shit and smelly.
