    Hi guys,

Apparently Google is rolling out an Android Auto update which will allow split screen/customization on the vehicle screen (like Google Map on one side, and media player on the other).

Anybody has confirmation that it will work with both types of screens for our 22+ Tundras? I tried forcing the update on my Pixel phone but it still now change to my screen in the vehicle...

    Thanks!

I have had the new cool walk interface since it came out in beta. I have the large screen and it works.

Having the small screen might be the reason i dont have the new interface, although I am sure it would still be big enough to be usable with the new interface....

Try clearing cache and data in the android auto app.

It works on mine...smaller screen. Just found out when I entered cell coverage from being out in the forest for a week. Nice surprise!

I'll wait then. I have the latest Android auto beta that I got from an APK file (8.7.130144) and my phone is a Pixel 7 Pro running the latest updates...

Might be activated depending on the carrier,l, or maybe need a update of the Toyota infotainment update?

When I first got my truck it connected fine. About month later I started having problems with no connection unless I used wired connection. I went to Android Auto community and did some research and followed some reccomendations and it has worked ever since. Thats been about four months ago. I recall right had something to do with permissions on phone. But here is connection to Android Auto.

i'm also on version: 8.5.624594-release with a small screen. i do not have the split screen on mine. i've tried clearing cache/data on AA, disconnected phone from vehicle, everything listed in this thread so far. no luck.

does it automatically split your screens up when you start your vehicle, or do you need to go into some sort of settings within your truck or phone to enable it? i haven't found anything myself and this was the one thing i wanted on my tundra, coming from my tacoma. :(

Mine has always had the split screen (got the truck in early fall of '22) however it looks slightly different that the image above, likely due to the larger screen.

Sharing a pic just so folks know what to be on the lookout for. Or, maybe there is some other better split screen coming that I don't even know about.

That is the standard Android Auto prior to this update. I haven't got the update yet, but someone on a Tundra FB group did and the larger 14" screen will look like this!

Nevermind.... After reading the article it sounds like you can have the new version, but without the functionality until Google turns the features on your phone.

I had the new update weeks ago, my phone said it was updated on 12 December. It didn't become active in my truck until this past Saturday.

Do we know if this will be brought to the gen2.5 with android auto? I would love to have the split screen feature. (2021 TRD sport premium) I have not had an android auto update on my phone yet, but I have heard they are very slowly rolling them out.

I've had it for about three weeks now. The morning that I saw the first mention of the update online while scrolling it appeared on the truck. I've got a Pixel 7 Pro so the "flagship" phones are probably at the top of the list. New look is great on the big 14" display and even looks good on the wife's small display in our Subaru Ascent.

I also have a Pixel 7 Pro. Still nothing on my side. Maybe the rolling out is region-based? Anybody from Canada has the update?

I'm in Atlanta, GA and I also use Google Fi for my mobile service so either one of those could play into it. I'll take some pics or a video and add them tomorrow if anyone is interested in the look of the updated android auto system.

I just checked and have the January update on my phone, but no changes in the tundra. I have the 8” screen. I just cleared storage and cache in the app on my phone. I’ll see if this makes a difference tomorrow morning when I head to work.

If you read the article linked above you'll see that it doesn't matter what phone you have, what service you have, what vehicle you have, what version of Android Auto you have, but rather you are truly at the mercy of Android Auto/Google to release it. They are calling it a server side update. It's the hurry up and wait game for mostly everyone. Except me :p:D:crapstorm::broccoli::dancingbacon:

A short video showing the new Android Auto functionality on my 23 SR5 TRD Sport 4x4 with the 14" screen. YouTube music didn't want to cooperate, but you can see what the new format looks like.

are you referring to having 2 panels opposed to 3? 2 panels being maps and music, compared to 3 panels being maps, music, and recommended destinations?

i found that i didn't need the card showing recommended destinations, so it being on the top right, i touch and flick it to the right, which would increase the height of the music, making it only 2 panels showing.
