Has anyone trimmed their AJT design vent rings to work with the Hondos Garage 2.0 phone mount?

I searched and found folks saying that the mount will not work unless the ring is trimmed, but nothing about actually making it work.

I also need a single black AJT vent ring or a cheap set, so if anyone has one please let me know.

Can confirm it will NOT work without trimming, etc. I was going to try and source a longer bolt instead of trimming but it's a wierd one and I just returned it.

Needing longer machine screws was my initial thought, but I can’t recall what the inside of the vent looked like prior to the trim ring being installed and was unsure whether the inside lip of the ring prevented the mount from securing. I’ll see if I can find the screws and report back for others.

    Thank you.

My fault - I just realized I picked up the OffRoam one. Same design I believe but they switched to 1 single bolt for the vent tension.
If you had longer screws it should theoretically work. The lip on the inside that the mount bites onto is very small however. That's why I gave up. Everyone touted how solid the mount was and I just wasn't impressed for the price.

I have the Hondos Garage mount on my Tundra and previously on my Tacoma. Never had them loosen, but didn’t have any major impacts either. For the price though, I agree with you.

Interesting, multiple others say that the Offroam does not work with AJT trim rings.

Since the Offroam installs the same as the Hondo, I am wondering if the Offroam screws are longer?

The Hondo Garage screws for the clamping mechanism are 4-40 x 1/2”. If the Offroam cap screws are longer than 1/2”, that could explain your success.

I have the Offroam and AJT trim rings. Thet will NOT work together, I had to trim the AJT ring where the mount fits. Screw is not long enough to work with the rings

I just wasn't sure whether I REALLY wanted the mount and didn't commit to trimming mine.

That looks good. I just KNEW if I did it I'd end up changing my mind.
