AKA hunting, but no elk were injured.

8D5AF7C0-5AEA-41EF-B600-967B1B4E8213.jpg It’s going to get worse. Much worse. I’m shooting for an area about 5 miles behind that hill.

At least I didn’t have to chain up in the mud.

That last pic was taken right before I got stuck for the second time. I knew I was in too deep, and found a decent turnaround. Got turned around, but got stuck trying to go up a small hill.
Just knee deep snow, but stuck. Only a couple hours of daylight left, nobody else up there and I’m solo. Unloaded theSxS, disconnected the trailer and shoveled out about 6’ so I could get a run at it. Made it out and took this spot just up the road.

Dear lord, I love snow camping. Absolutely the best time of year to get out. The cold keeps the riffraff out and the bugs down. Looks like a beautiful area. Enjoy.

How well does the SxS do in that much snow?

Elk were smarter than me, most had moved down. Just a day or two before I got there judging by the tracks. Still had a great time, till the wind hit. Third night. It was insane and non stop.

This was it. Stove pipe launched itself, twice. It’s midnight, I grab the burning stove and toss it in the snow. Grab the sleeping bag and sleep in the tundra. Even the truck was rocking in the wind.

The Truck did well, except for some odd traction control thing. I could step on the gas and it would go into a limp mode.

Lock both axles and it still struggles. But it went. Needed chains, or a snowmobile.

This forum was what got me into that 21 tundra, and I thank you all.

    Stay warm!
