2021 front bench console mods?

OK, I am not totally thrilled with the seatback "console" on the middle seat. It is just about useless as storage space the way it is layed out, and unless you always ride around with a Big Gulp for a drink, the drink holders are crap.

Are there any mods anyone has seen or done? I have an idea to remove the headrest and make a proper drink holder on my 3D printer to attach into the mounting holes for the headrest. That'll give me a good drink and order-o-fries holder. At a minimum, I'd try making inserts for the stock drink holders to make them fit something I use.

Also, what a about a drop-in console to put on the floor in front of the seat? I have seen some "console organizers" for cars and trucks, but they all seem too small for the area in front of the middle seat. Would like something I could install a wireless phone charging pad into and some other odd storage for things like tape measures, small tools, spare fuses, trailer bulbs, etc.

Has anybody else come up with a good improvement to this?

 

I have the regular center console in my Tundra, but the cup holders look to be the same size between the center console and seatback console. I bought these to "right size" the cupholders:

I had to trim the middle piece on the sides of the cupholder "adapter" a little bit to make them work, but now my 20 and 30oz Yetis fit perfectly.

 

Thanks. I have only just started looking at those cupholder adapters. I have a pretty significant road trip coming up in a couple of weeks and will probably find some of those that will work to make things more comfortable.

 

Got any pics of them installed? I love my bench armrest console but the holders are too small for cans-they tip over.

 

I've 3d printed some chicken nugget sauce holders (as well as some regular sized cup holders)

A little hard to tell from this shot but I also replaced the headrest with a little tray table I made. I keep the headrest in the middle seat bottom storage in case I do need to utilize the seat (rarely)

Nothing fancy but made my own smaller cup holders with a piece of black plastic pipe and foam weatherstrip with adhesive backing.
Works good and they come out if you need the large cupholder.
For the floor got this organizer from Auto Zone. It’s a little too wide so I had to trim a little off the side with the cup holders on my table saw. (Pic is upside down, cup holders are next to the seat). I get two more cup holders and some useful storage.

 

Thanks for the photos! That's pretty much what I had in mind for the headrest mod. Originally, I was thinking of making better cup holders and a feature to hold my french fries, but I can probably live with the existing cup holders if I make inserts like those shown by Northbound Train above. I like the sauce caddies, though. Great idea! My headrest mod might be a tray like yours or maybe add a phone stand with wireless charging pad.

Thanks also for the photos and ideas. I may have to look at Auto Zone again. I did not find any organizers that big when I looked before, but I have a few other stores in my area to check.

 

I find the center console on mine to be pretty sufficient for my needs so only mod I did was hang a little trash pouch on the front of it using the headrest.

Oh man that is Slick! I'd love to have that regular cup holder mod. Like I said, soda cans rattle all around in the stock opening.

 

What type of pipe? Looks like it has a flare on the ends.

 

It’s regular ABS drain pipe from Home Depot. I made the flare with a die grinder.

 

I Bought two of these for my truck. They fit perfectly and take the large hole down to the size of an aluminum can. Amazing mod for 3 bucks.

Thanks for the pointer to that thread! It didn't turn up in my searches, since I didn't think to look for stuff about the column shifter. There I go with my linear thinking again...

 

My problem was that my Yeti Ramblers (over 20 Oz) wouldn't fit in the cup holders, so I did the chalk bag mod from another post. This and the center console organizer from

Looks like you have the center console with floor shifter in yours instead of the center seat and column shift. I don't think the organizer you have would work with mine.

 

Just bought a 21 Crewmax with the bench seat...UGH!!! Stowage sucks in these things, the center seat has some but not enough and forget about putting anything under the back seat and or behind it...WTF. Looking at many threads and options to maximize the space available.
