More than likely 2 JL 12w3s. I'm still kinda researching, but I've liked JL since I heard them.

JL’s have always been my fave. Put 2 12’s in my son’s mustang. These are “entry level” JL’s. They rock anyway. 300w each from a Pioneer 5 channel 2000w digital amp. Amp was a score at $189 3 years ago. Subs were $125 each. Custom built the boxes myself and finished them.

Infinity 6x8’s in the doors and rear deck (not impressed with them) and alpine tweets in the dash corners (too bright). The amp and the subs steal the show.
Staging in the mustang is poor.

I like the use of the angle iron for retention.

So many people just staple velcro hooks to the bottom of the box and expect it to grab the carpet. Lasts great as long as you never use your brakes or hit a sharp curve ... until the hooks straighten out the carpet fibers, then you lose all low-end sound when you corner too fast, and you blow the fuse on your amp (or your amp) when the speaker leads touch each other

(unusually specific story because it happened to a kid I knew in high school)

Angle aluminum strip to keep them damn things from bouncing around. Ended up adding a brace between the boxes to hold them because they would wiggle and bounce and make noises with cornering and bumps. Did not want to screw into the body anywhere to mount them. The screws into the trunk floor liner I didn’t mind.

The Type R is a good entry level sub. Not for the discerning audiophile perhaps, but good for a kick around system.

What about the self learning echo software used in high end home stereo, is any of that available for automotive?

I have fm. Might have phone as an aux. not the sorta signals worth amplifying, but YMMV. Got a decent soundbar for the garage, and ordered one of those jbl tallboys for camp.

grandpa's roadtrek has the $300 bose stereo and it bangs. Played it instead of the dash radio.

I distinctly recall someone had a DSP out a while back which accepted mic inputs and the DSP would auto-adjust (tune) itself based on the mic input.

Hell if I can remember who made it though. This would've been at least 10-15 years ago.

I run a minidsp 2 x 4 but there is a version with software called Dirac which is what you are talking about: an autotune of sorts. I really like the minidsp and feel that a dsp is one of the most important pieces of having quality audio.

    https://www.minidsp.com/products/dirac-series

edit: I am just finishing up tearing up my door panels as I put in new 6.5s and they are too deep to fit in the stock location. I am still finishing it up but will post fotos at some point.

I would hope so, you pay enough for their goods that skimping on packaging would tarnish their rep.

    Harrry & David package well.
I got a box of pears from them, the box was sectioned so each pear was solo, wrapped in paper, surrounded by cardboard, layer of foam over them, box lid, that box was in a decorative wooden tray, which was surrounded by crumpled paper lining an outer box. Crazy, but the pears arrived in beautiful condition. Tasted good too.

box in a box with a layer of squishy stuff always works well. As long as the actual product is wrapped to not move.
